We should be grateful if we can get the like of Barkley
Sessegnon could well have just looked at our squad and in reality thought - should I go to a club where I'm starting 3rd choice as a LB and likely further down the pecking order for a midfield slot??
True, but it doesn't hurt.Rose is injured - and he's been injured for quite a while. How will he play on his return? If Rose has a great season he'll be in high demand next season by clubs such as City and Utd. He might move on - as we expect Walker to do this year.
What happens if Wimmer leaves and Vertonghen gets injured? Maybe Davies will take his spot - so there'll be a spot open as left wing-back. There are lots of possibilities for playing time.
It's not all about playing time - it's about being given the right kind of opportunities and the sort of coaching environment that will develop the player.
If he backs himself that shouldn't be an issue. Dele wasn't put off by any midfielders we already had the squad. With Poch in charge if he comes in and is good enough he'll play.Sessegnon could well have just looked at our squad and in reality thought - should I go to a club where I'm starting 3rd choice as a LB and likely further down the pecking order for a midfield slot??
I agree 100% but that doesn't stop a young player thinking he'll be different and be the next big thing at Manoo.Over the past two summer windows Spurs have been interested in bringing in both Martial and Batshuayi - at least according to ITK posts. We've failed to bring them in and they've gone to Man Utd and Cheksea respectively. And what has happened? Martial has become a bit-part player at Utd and Batshuayi looks like he's on the verge of moving again this summer, having been stuck on the bench for most of last season.
The smart move for an up-and-coming player of quality is to move where he'll be given a chance to play and with a coach and set-up that will allow him to develop. Is there a better club than Totenham Hotspur that can offer that?
There've been some fantastic talents that have moved too soon to the Utds of this world and failed.
It's not just about immediate money. It's about establishing a career.
Bale made the move to Spurs when Utd was sniffing around. And he's not done too badly...
Jesus.... Talk of possibly not getting Sessegnon, and this place needs putting on suicide watch.
Here's the thing, he's a LB and, according to the ITK at the top of this thread, Rose isn't leaving this summer, meaning Sessegnon would be third choice.
Look at it from the lad's own perspective. Unless we send him back on loan, he isn't going to see much of the first team if he comes to us (personal opinion), whereas maybe he sees better chances at United or elsewhere. I for one can see why he's taking his time to make his mind up.
As for early window business, we don't really know what's going on behind the scenes, and I'm not sure the rest of the squad do. After all, they're off on holiday for another week, while Poch/Levy and Co. still work to identify incoming players. You really think Rose is phoning Poch daily to find out what's going on??
Calm down people.... If you're like this on 26th June, what the fuck are you going to be like in 2 months time if we still haven't done deals, and have sold Walker, Dier & Kane (I jest about the last two)???
you know theres been news good/bad when the thread reaches 7 pages in 1 day haha!
I agree with most of that, but the one thing I would say is that although players probably wouldn't know about specific targets, it's quite likely that they'd discuss general transfer policy with the club before signing a new contract and therefore they might know the kind of players that we are after.
True, but it doesn't hurt.
At Arsenal or Manchester United I would expect him to be straight on the bench and pushing for a start, or at least already in cup teams. We were apparently interested in loaning back. The kid might just not want to stay at Fulham and is therefore currently more interested in other offers. He might just well back himself to be a PL starter sooner rather than later, see Dele for details.
Not so sure about Sessegnon being straight on the bench at Man Utd or Arsenal.
Both clubs are well-stocked at left back:
Arsenal
Monreal
Kolasinac
Gibbs
Man Utd
Shaw
Rojo
Blind
He'd be even further behind at those two clubs...
I reckon it could be Chelsea

Had it not been for the massive dragging of heels our summer signings would have been a LOT more acceptable and sensible. Levy panicked when he got it wrong and realised what the consequences were going to be, think about it, how Levylike is it for him to make a last minute signing and STILL pay over the top? Its completely against type. He shat himself.
And Poch stated he wanted his summer dealings done early..........Things weren't right at chez lane
I still say that it wouldn't surprise me if we were looking for a new manager come the end of the season.
How to make friends and influence people.....Fulham to Chelsea, hmmmmmI reckon it could be Chelsea
