£55m for Walker! An absurd amount of money for a player who still struggles to complete a cross and who defensively struggles at times. IF we invest this money wisely, we've done ok. A good servant to the club and appeared to care about club and fans.

If Walker is gone to City then so be it - and the money for him sounds terrific. But then again City would need to pay top money for one of the best right backs in the world. That's only reasonable.

I just hope that City (or some other team) doesn't try and gusump Spurs' move for Pereira - if indeed that is the player that we want to replace Walker. (This possibility has now increased in City's case with the Alves to PSG move).

I'd be very interested to know if any posters here would know how it works when a club wants a player but the move is dependent on another player move. Can a deal be agreed subject to another deal by the buying club? In other words (if Spurs want Pereira) can Spurs put a 'hold' on the player?

Just heard Martin Lipton (the sun, apparently he's close to the club?) say we will not sell Dier for any price, he also said we will not pay more than £45m for a player or pay more than £70k a week. He seemed responsible for a sun jurno, saying that there are very few players that we can buy to improve our starting 11 so we're looking at players to add quality to the squad.

The JCLs and youngsters will never know how we've suffered.

Can be great going forward, but he has often switched off mentally when defending - I can remember several "what the hell is he doing" moments

Gotta be honest, I'm not buying into this whole "strengthening our rivals" line. Walker is a good addition for City but I personally don't feel like he's suddenly going to be the difference between them finishing 3rd last season or 1st this season. He replaces what have been some average performers for them last season and he may well be good for them but he's far from the perfect player. As has been mentioned, he does have holes in his game still and call me complacent but I'm really not that concerned. I'd be a lot more worried if this was Dier, Alli, Kane, Eriksen or frankly ANY of our other starting 11 going out the door. Walker is the one player I am cool with us letting go.

City have endless amounts of money. Whether it's Walker or someone else, they were going to get better at right back. Poch clearly feels that letting Walker leave doesn't make us weaker and that's what matters. We will replace Walker and be as good, most likely better, than we were last season having sold a 27 year old for £55m. That, my friends, is how you do good business in football.

Not long now until we hear Foyth is Walker's replacement, we leave ourselves a few players short(yet again), we hear we tried and tried but couldnt get it over the line. People get upset with dear leader, donna makes levy release some kind of statement and everyones back on his side again. Spurs transfer windows. It's a vicious cycle.

But surely "lessons have been learned"?

I believe he is their lead football correspondent and is a Spurs fan, tends to report on Chelsea more but does get Spurs info.

It's cool, I've made peace with the idea that Durham simply does it to get fans to call in. Pay no attention to the ugly fucker.

Dier new contract on the table. (Not for RO)

Poch has told Levy if any players want to leave they can. He only wants players that will die for the shirt.

That last bit is either very brave or naive from Poch. You can take that stance when you are United or Chelsea - but when you are severely underpaying your top players it's suicide.

I can see a bunch of new contracts being handed out. Toby, Dier, Rose and others that are "under paid" to play a game, receive the best medical care, get free meals, and so forth. Ugh the life they live.

The 70,000 can't be right as we already have several players on far more than that.

They still have to meet Levy's valuations so while it's tempting fate it certainly doesn't guarantee a mass exodus.
