That last bit is either very brave or naive from Poch. You can take that stance when you are United or Chelsea - but when you are severely underpaying your top players it's suicide.
I think its him showing bravery...hopefully the players have some character and respond in the right way.

Not long now until we hear Foyth is Walker's replacement, we leave ourselves a few players short(yet again), we hear we tried and tried but couldnt get it over the line. People get upset with dear leader, donna makes levy release some kind of statement and everyones back on his side again. Spurs transfer windows. It's a vicious cycle.

Why don't you just support Chelsea or City from now?

We really need an incoming now that Walker is off. I get the feeling Barkley will be the first.

I remember on Soccer AM someone suggested Walker has the worst hygiene at the club so he wont be missed the smelly bastard. Looking forward to Rose vs Walker this season though.

Gotta be honest, I'm not buying into this whole "strengthening our rivals" line. Walker is a good addition for City but I personally don't feel like he's suddenly going to be the difference between them finishing 3rd last season or 1st this season. He replaces what have been some average performers for them last season and he may well be good for them but he's far from the perfect player. As has been mentioned, he does have holes in his game still and call me complacent but I'm really not that concerned. I'd be a lot more worried if this was Dier, Alli, Kane, Eriksen or frankly ANY of our other starting 11 going out the door. Walker is the one player I am cool with us letting go.

City have endless amounts of money. Whether it's Walker or someone else, they were going to get better at right back. Poch clearly feels that letting Walker leave doesn't make us weaker and that's what matters. We will replace Walker and be as good, most likely better, than we were last season having sold a 27 year old for £55m. That, my friends, is how you do good business in football.
I agree. I also think it's worth considering that by keeping Man City in our good books by selling them Walker, we may give ourselves better chance of signing any unwanted players from them in the future. Walker was a player we could afford to lose and use the money to strengthen the squad.

Dier new contract on the table. (Not for RO)

Poch has told Levy if any players want to leave they can. He only wants players that will die for the shirt.
gulp....going to log off now and go do something productive.

Rose will make a mess of him.

It's interesting that people are happy with the clubs stance on not selling Dier, but also happy to sell a first team player to City. All this transfer is demonstrating is that if you tap one of our players up and get them to rock the boat, we will sell for the right price.

Sadly we are back to being a selling club now, and the likes of City, Chelsea and United will be circling around our top players with renewed confidence that they can force us to sell to them again.

Juventus are selling Bonucci to Milan, would you call them a "selling club"?

All clubs sell top players from time to time, and the only one leaving us is, by general consensus, a very good player but the most expendable of the preferred XI.

The 70,000 can't be right as we already have several players on far more than that.

It can be. Simply, they can have made a decision to not pay any new player more than that. The statement doesn't have to be connected to the fact that we have a batch of players paid more than that, and in fact ties in with the concept of us buying for squad depth

As a fan that sounds nice n all, but seriously? In modern football?

If it is true then it just makes me love Poch more. However, I fear it'll just end in tears and/or Lee Cattermole.

This can't be where we are now.

There are 49 more days left in the transfer window :geek:
31 days until our first match (Why again doesn't the window close before that?!), which is why I think many here feel anxious over the lack of business. Hopefully the recent itk is correct and we start seeing some activity.

That's the whole team playing in a red shirt next year then! Maureen will drive the coach up to Old Trafford. ;)

It shows that Poch's philosophy is so much about character and attitude. If you show signs of not buying the philosophy you're out at the first opportunity. I'm genuinely OK with that.

I also think it's a very well-judged ultimatum when it comes to someone like Dier, who is a natural born leader as is. It's a challenge from Poch that I would hope he'd be so fired up about that he'd accept.
