Watched the game half asleep last night still can't believe the penalty Roma got and the one we didn't with Kane blatantly fouled

An undeserved and contentious defeat that got the boys angry may do us a favour going into the start of the season, probably much more than a comfortable win. How many good preseasons have we had in the past only to start the real football like we were playing half asleep in treacle? Hopefully this has got them fired up early!

GKN looked better on the right than on the left, where he's traditionally been deployed. Perfect cross for Janssen.

Looks like with GKN and Georgiou we've got two proper wingers to cover both sides should we decide to play that way.
Ridiculous how people go over board.Nkoudou touch was awful last night.lost the ball numerous times puts in one half decent cross and suddenly he is our great winger hope.Theres a reason he barely played last season.

And dier is one of the most overrated players I've ever seen wear a spurs shirt, the love for this guy just baffles me.Time and time again he looks woeful in possession of the ball,he just looks so uncomfortable it's painful too watch. If I knew for sure we'd replace him and not count on kids I'd take £50m and run for the hills.

Watching the game just now, the officiating was so bad that they must have had money on the result. Even the most incompetent referee is not that bad.

You sound grumpy. I'm guessing you regret your decision to stay up and watch the match last night?

Had a moth in my bedroom all night doing my head in didn't help lol.But tbh I'm pretty sure my views wouldn't change.felt same about dier for ages I literally tense up every time he gets the ball. And just feel there's something a bit flimsy about nkoudou ,I'll be very surprised if he makes it.On the bright side TOB will be a star ,I have absolutely no doubt.

I loved seeing us get fired up for a friendly game, it's that type of fighting attitude that has contributed to getting us to where we are as a team and it's good to have that embedded in us whether it's a league game or just a friendly.

On the game though I thought we were very poor in the first half, no real flow or attacking prowess. It was the typical performance of one without Eriksen. I've been a bit meh (hate using that word) on the signing of Barkley, used to really like him as a player before last season, thought he showed incredible promise but he hasn't been a player who would elevate us in my mind. This showing though did make me think that even for good quality depth, he would be a really good signing... We don't want one particular player becoming injured to hamper the way we play.
We haven't had Son, Lamela or Rose, 3 integral players to our team and with the way our set of players enhanced their play last season Lamela would have struggled to get into the team if he came back from injury so that's almost like an extra player to add to our depth.

Depending on who we sign we might see the likes of at least 2 of Barkley, Son, Lamela on our bench next season, that's incredible options.

I know teams have been spending left right and centre but also upon watching us again it reminded me and made me just take a look back and think, we have a lot of quality in our team, we have to remember that we don't have to do as much to our teams as the likes of City, United and Liverpool. Look how much City have spent and I still bet we'd go toe to toe with them with our best team.

I'm actually coming around to the idea that we don't have to spend like these teams and that we just have to buy smartly. Hopefully we can get it right this time.

I for one actually agree with you, don't see anything that dier does well, nowhere near as good as wanyama or dembele in the centre mid, the only hope he had is getting in the back three.

It's funny my dier post already has x3 disagree lol.there really is an army that won't have a bad word said about him,I'm sure they are teenage girls that just drool over his James Bond looks.Anyway as said one of best things about last night was our hunger. In the 1st half our pressing was insane. Also special mention for Ben Davies.Rarely seems to get a mention, but always forget how young he is,has been quality on the whole since rose been out and improving all the time.

Considering this was a PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY, some of you lot really need to calm down.

The melodrama in some of the early posts was alarming to say the least. I'd love to assume that it was largely due to sleep deprivation but let's face it, it probably wasn't.

I think we can all agree that the result would have been completely different if it wasn't for the ref who was absolutely garbage.

We need to remember that at no point were we playing our strongest first 11 altogether at the same time. Poch is going to experiment and try things so it's probably worth trying to keep an open mind during these games.

Lastly, some of the criticism being levelled at Eric Dier is a joke. I'm genuinely embarrassed by some of the comments I read.

How many poor players does Mourinho buy?
