Anyone remember Alderwerield from a couple of years ago? Looked off, dead and buried, no chance it was happening... and then boom, something changed and he was ours. Perhaps lightning could strike twice

Disappointed that Balde has decided to go to Juve but what would make me even more disappointed is if Josh King really is the back up option.

Whilst it's a step down, what would be a realistic 'back-up option'?

The very definition of a back-up is that it isn't your first choice, so I don't think it's hugely realistic to expect a world-class player to be on standby.

Pretty sure this one is done. Signing for someone else is a fairly serious dent in our chances.

Different situation. I think that was unlikely due to some issues with contracts or something not because we risked being gazumped. This one is purely because we aren't the preferred destination.

The huge difference though, is that concerning Alderweireld all kinds of info, both from ITK and news outlets, were crossing each other left, right and centre. The total amount of noise was so huge, no doubt it was still on. Regarding Baldé we have really nothing to go on in terms of contradicting info.

It's King or Demarai Gray. Either way it's the typical last minute expensive option.

Absolute joke.
Fixed it for you.

Scroll up to buttons two previous posts

Apparently poch has been on talksport this morning and said that we were close to a player but it didn't happen

But as I said doesn't feel to me as if he'd be talking about keita this soon

Why not? If the most accurate ITK knows the score I'm sure our manager does.

Would seem odd to me for poch to come out and talk about a transfer which only changed late last night in such definite terms

Makes me think he's talking about something else

Possibly. But interesting snippets nevertheless. He was at the PL launch talking to Jim White.

I would much prefer Demarai Grey to be honest. I just don't rate Josh King as a player.

I don't mind Josh king, think he's superior to janssen

But I suspected the point of diao was not to sit on a bench but actually be a starter.
Someone who actually strengthens the first team and creates serious competition/rotation in positions behind Kane

So would be fairly disappointing to end with a dude like Josh to join sissoko , and Janssen on the bench. And may even miss the squad at times all tighter assuming lamela gets fit in September

I can only speak for myself, and in fact I agree with every word you are saying to be honest. I just personally believe that this specific player is nothing to lose it over.

We're not throwing a wobbler over not signing Balde, a player who lets face it was always destined for bigger and better things than Spurs. What we are annoyed at and it's been bubbling for weeks is the fact that we've not signed anyone, sold the leagues best right back and not replaced him, have 10s of millions to spend and now have an injury ravaged thread bare squad which isn't equipped to succeed on the huge Wembley pitch or in multiple competitions.
