I'm hoping for an early Aurier announcement to settle everyone down and then anything else is a bonus.

Glad JJ has dismissed Mahrez, he's not willing to put the hard work in.

If we get Aurier over the line this morning/afternoon and bring in some pace going forward, we'll have been a decent transfer window after a couple of months of doom and gloom. As long as Levy doesn't have a Sissoko moment at 10pm tonight.

The Aurier announcement may be an indicator of how the club think the day will play out for them. If they're not getting anything over the line, they may wait to announce until later in the day. Conversely, if something comes together, Aurier may get announced sooner.

If it's just Aurier then we'll have at the very least kept last season's best defence just as strong, we'd have significantly improved our defensive depth, and we'll have not diminished last season's best attack.

I'd like to see the front four strengthened, but the above represents a decent window in my opinion.

And we held on to all of first team bar Walker.

So no to Martins, yes to Gomes. Pretty depressing start to the day! Gomes must also mean Barkley is definitely not happening. Even more depressing! Hopefully there's someone else other than Gray on the cards in a forward position.

JJ's Twitter Q&A:

Q: Any truth in the Mahrez link?
JJ: None

Q: Can you dismiss links to llorente and Gomes? We need pace!
JJ: No I cannot. We are getting pace (y)

We've had ITK that money has been set aside for contracts once the window has closed, and that DL is willing to pay good money for the right player - is it not beyond reason that our perceived cap of say £100k for our top earners is actually a bit higher once the window closes? So will be willing to go a bit higher for the right purchase because others will be on parity in the next few weeks?

Regarding JJ's Alan Shearer post.

I posted last night that my interpretation of that was that he was simply posting in response to a tweet with a player name, with another player name, as if to say 'don't ask questions'.

JJ winnered my post.
