Only opinion obviously. Just curious as to where Lawro thinks we're a couple of players short (admittedly, think he's responding to the original challenge for the title question there). Even so, am struggling to understand where he thinks the 2 are needed. Unless he means a pair of de Bruyne level type signings, which aren't feasible for obvious reasons. Almost wish I could have morphed into Dan, just to ask him what he means. Sinclair then goes onto agree with him, and references the Rose situation? Is there one anymore? I assumed he would come back into contention when fit, and move on at the end of the season if an offer is right for all parties. That’s it isn't it? Ignored lazy Wembley reference as it is just daft.

Anyone got any ideas?

Ps. Not an open invitation to vent on Lawro and Sinclair. Genuinely interested in what anyone else thinks (re: 2 players) knows (re: Rose situ)?

Obviously, with Liverpool never losing a game we'll easily get pushed out of the top four.

I think City are really strong, however, United aren't the greatest side in the world.

They have started well, but I wouldn't be surprised to see us above them come February/March.
Again like city Utd have much better quality in depth than we have plus under mourhino they can see games out and defend so well.
City now look to be flourishing under pep as he settles into his second season and walker will probably now pick up a EPL winners medal so good luck to him

We wont finish top 4 imo. Lawro (gasp) isnt being particularly controversial here, and we do need a ball playing midfielder (as winks looks to have regressed a little after his bad injury) and a wide player. Balance of the side seems off atm, with too few attack minded players. This is more evident at Wembley

Mancs, chavs and red scouse are better than us at present and arent playing home games in a temporary home and i expect will pull clear. Think we'll be battling with goon for europa places.

Agree that the balance of the team is still not right this wasn't addressed in the summer for whatever reason, but if we could move the ball around quicker and offer better movement especially at home that would represent a start.

Balance isn't an issue clearly, the main thing we needed to address was squad depth and we did that. What's holding us back this season is our typical sluggish start on the pitch, Injuries and Wembley.

Balance is an issue but yes sluggish which is why I was saying that we need to move the ball around quicker and offer better movement, which at the moment we don't but hopefully we will improve on as the season progresses.

That is still good enough for most of us it maybe that we might nor win the title in the foreseeable future.

If we finished fourth with the handicap of playing at Wembley then I don't think many of us could have complaints about this season.

True but it is something we are improving on season upon season, unfortunately continual champions league is almost a requirement to ensure that continues to be the case.

I agree. They've had piss easy fixtures which has helped. Most people thought they'd have this start with the teams they were due to face. Obviously they are helped with the wankfest surrounding them but once they play anyone decent they will struggle. Highlighted by only scraping past Southampton yesterday.

We always take a good few months to click and then find our form in the middle part of the season. As long as we are still picking up points whilst not playing brilliantly, we'll be up there at the end. We're gunna start winning at Wembley eventually. We werent great against Swansea and Burnley but were still very unlucky not to win.

I'm not so sure to be honest. Mourinho will just revert to defence first mode and look to take advantage of any set-pieces when they face any of the big teams. They will be up there this year unfortunately. I do believe we are a better team than them and it's just unfortunate we are having a bit of an unsettling situation, otherwise we should be level with them after having a more difficult start. We need to be very smart when we play them, home and away.

Last season, people thought Man City were unbeatable after 5 games. Let's see how it goes when their porous defence starts getting put under some sustained pressure.

Man Utd have played very well against a weak selection of teams. Again, let's see how they fare - and how the fans react - when they concede a few goals against better opposition and Mourinho, following his habit, pulls their attacking players back into their shell.

Liverpool have the same imbalance between attack and defence, but more so. And they have European football added to their workload this season.

Other than Spurs, the only other contender that has a reliable, robust defence is Chelsea. Even though attacks win matches, defences, the cliché goes, win titles,

We have been a bit constipated in attack at Wembley so far, but what hasn't happened is what ruined our Champions League campaign last season, which was conceding sloppy goals against the run of play. Overall, we've conceded 6 goals in 8 matches so far (0.75/match), which is about the same rate as last season (0.83/match), and one of those was when we were playing with 10 men.

As for the initial question about additional players and depth, we don't need any new players. We just need the injured ones to get fit and find form again. There's no room in a midfield that has had a fit Lamela and Dembélé added to it; any additional defenders or wing-backs wouldn't get onto the bench; we have three strikers (I include Son) who can lead the line when required. There aren't any vacancies for the kind of "improved" players Lawrenson is inventing for us.

I don't think what he said was that bad. I don't think we will be title contenders this season. I do think we are a couple of players short. I do think that leaving white hart lane and moving to Wembley makes a big difference to our home form. Top 3 places will go to Man U, Man City and Chelsea. I think we will be fighting for fourth place with Liverpool and Arsenal.

Absolutely mate no one can deny we are and have progressed and are seeing the best spurs team for 30 years, and yes continued involvement in the CL is vital to try and stay in touch with those teams, although with the Wembley situation that maybe hard to do this year.

I think we will win the League this season - I think we are as good at least as the 3 rivals for the title - so far we haven't really got going and though Wembley is a pain we could quite easily be sitting here with maximum points barring a poor LLoris mistake some silly play by Kane and Winks and a touch of fair luck against Swansea

For me we are far from hitting the heights of last season but that will come in time and I think we have an excellent chance of at least going very close and why not winning it? I know Spurs supporters by their very nature are pessimists but for me we have a real chance to do something very special

Well we play Utd in a couple of weeks so we can test that theory David usually I would agree with your assessment of our defence, but so far this season I don't think we are as rock solid as we were maybe due to injuries like rose etc and new additions like Sanchez and aurier that make us look a bit more vulnerable than we were.

In his defence, 2 points from 3 homes games is not a good indication.

Although 9 points from 3 away games is.
