I'd rather play Harry Kane at LB than Trippier. Trippier at LB means we only play with 80% of the pitch when we have the ball as he constantly turns back on his right foot and passes back to a CB. Every time.

Davies has to be fit.

Lloris
Alderreiweld Sanchez Vertonghen
Aurier Dier Winks Davies
Sissoko Eriksen
Kane
Playing Harry Kane at left back means we would have 100% no left back as he'd be playing centre forward

I think if Dembele had a genuine chance of making this he would of a got a run out yesterday.

Think Davies will make it, and expect Aurier to start ahead of Trippier.

Expect the team to be:

Lloris

Alderweireld
Sanchez
Vertonghen

Aurier
Dier
Winks
Davies

Sissoko
Eriksen

Kane

I think Son might be on the bench, Sissoko's work rate, pace and power on the counter could be a good move.

I know Son was good against Dortmund, but Madrid are another level and Sissoko puts in more off the ball, he gets the nod for me.

He can also drop deeper and solidify us more than Son would and let's be honest we're going to be doing a lot of defending.

This is a game where you have to think a bit more about stopping the opposition than just about how you can hurt them.

If anyone needed an incentive to get fit, surely Real Madrid at The Bernabeu would be it?

I see what you mean about sissoko and i do agree although it would have to be in place of alli seeing as he is still serving his ban.
Its a tough selection to make without knowing who is available. Its a shame we have do many players that are close but cant play for whatever reason.

Thanks stand corrected on Alli.
In that case
Lloris

Aurier
Alderweireld
Sanchez
Vertonghen
Davies

Dier
Sissoko
Eriksen

Son

Kane.

Vertonghen was great at LB yesterday against a team that offered no attacking threat, but I really hope that we do not choose to destabilise the strongest part of our team (central defence) to plug a gap elsewhere.

We need Toby and Jan either side of Sanchez to give ourselves the best chance of keeping Ronaldo and co out.

Agreed. If Davies is unfit I'd put Aurier there, his left foot is decent and he has pace to make up for being on his wrong side. He'd also have Vertonghen as a safety net.

If we go with back3 & WB system we have some hope away at RM to at least get a point. If we go back4 , IMO there is no hope for us.

Not a game we need anything from. I would not risk Dembele but ease him back for Liverpool and Man Utd games. It might be a good game to play some who are not always starters. You never know a great defensive job plus a devastating counter attack or two and we could snatch something from the game but if we lose heavily it means little as long as we don't pick up injuries of cards

If Wanayma was fit I would play both Llorente and Kane up front to give Madrid something to think about at the back. I have never really rated Madrids defensive qualities they play most weeks against one attacker who is often isolated so easy to deal with

Why should Sissoko play? I hate being rude about any of our players but I think he's a very poor footballer so why would we want him in such a big game?

Because hes big, physical and has the power to get us up the pitch. Hes abit of a battering ram that offers something different and i dont think madrid will like it rough. In a game where we may be penned in he could provd useful.

If dembele is out along with alli then we dont have many options right?

He's clearly not the most gifted in the technical sense, but that doesn't mean he can't be an effective cog in a team set up to play a certain way for any given game, does it?

The way you say it, is like some revelation that hasn't crossed the mind of Pochettino yet lol

We'd get stuffed if we played 2 up top.

I don't get what you're saying in the last paragraph.

Other than run powerfully, I genuinely don't see what he brings to the team. Whatever happens on Tuesday we are going to need gifted players (quite obviously playing at the highest stage in club football) who can keep the ball, play with composure and in the case of Sisssoko or whoever plays in his stead, create or score goals. For me, he really isn't good enough for us even coming on at home to Bournemouth let alone away to Madrid.
