Winks isn’t in the same boat as Dele or Dier. He’s done very well this season but has hit rough patch just like most of the squad. As others have said Winks is unfortunately is a sink or swim situation and not all down to his own doing. We simply don’t have an alternative player so he’s going to have to dig deep and pull himself through his dip in form.
Dele and Dier on the other hand, best friends but the terrible twosome at the moment. Dele acts like Billy big bollocks and needs an almighty slap and bringing back down to Earth. Dier, wtf is going on there? He acts like a spoilt brat and switches off as and when he feels like it. Could this be down to Walker’s revelation that Dier pushed for a move to Manure and was told he wasn’t going anywhere? When Wanyama and Toby are back, Dele and Dier will be benched and let’s face, that’s where they belong at this moment in time.
Yeah - I would not have used him in a two - I would have set up in a 433 - with Dembele deep, and Erisken and Sissoko playing in front of Dembele - and used Sissoko as an outlet to spring counter-attacks on the right side.I certainly wouln't have played sissoko in a two.
Welli mean, he couldnt even control the ball today. That was just the worst performance in a string of very poor perfomances from him.Could be very likely Poch wanted him to opt for the "simple passes" given how quickly City turn misplaced passes into a dangerous counter attack.
He's generally smart with the ball, and at times could be more adventurous, but I don't think today was the game for him to try to ping around hopeful passes.
