No im praising them for ALL their recent business.. Coutinho, Saido Mane, Salah and Vvd. Yes they will get some... Just like have done countless times..

If this was Chelsea/ United/City i wouldn't be impressed.. But Liverpool/Arsenal are in our tier player wise... I just think they have dine goid business. Not waiting fir the final days of a transfer window etc.
Coutinho was 5 years ago, in that time we have signed Toby, Sanchez, Trippier, Wanyama, Eriksen, Alli and Son for about 42 mil less than Liverpool paid for the 4 you mentioned. Go back just 6 months more and you can add Lloris and Vertonghen and we still would have paid about 20 mil less. We are doing alright.

Edit: You can also add Davies and still be under their spend for those 4 players and 6 of those players would walk into Liverpool's first 11 and the other 3 would seriously challenge it.

They atleast adressing areas of weakness. Not only in the 1st 11 but their squad as a whole.

Okay so I've been following this thread and I really don't get what your point is. Are you saying they're the only team that have identified a weakness and fixed it? Cause it feels like you're saying they've done something we haven't... but we have. And better than them. I mean if your including Coutinho in terms of their recent signings, then we've brought in Wanyama, Dier, Toby, Sanchez and Alli in that time. Kane and Winks have also broke through so it's not like we've done nothing.

Chelsea have strengthened, City have. United have. Arse have (probably to a lesser extent).

I really don't get what you're trying to say. They saw a weakness (that they've had for multiple seasons) and attempted to fix it by dramatically overpaying for a player, whilst still leaving themselves with other weakness' (like a Goalkeeper).

No no no and no again. Im just praising them for their decisiveness and not for one second comparing their business to ours... Seriously what is WRONG with positively acknowledging another teams business. They happen to be my least favourite opposition team. Them Chelsea and United in that order.

I did though reference that they dont wait for the closing days of the window. Thats all.

Yes we have done marvelous business and know where have i stated otherwise. I cant agree more with you.. All I've done is acknowledge an opposing teams transfer business w.r.t to 4-5 specific players.... Im not suggesting that they are the epitome of how it must be done.

Not a problem with complimenting other teams but this isn't the thread.

We laugh at stupids, funnies, idiocies and downright foolhardiness. That makes us feel better.

Sometimes it comes back and bites us in the arse. We don't care.

I really don't get why people take the thread title so literally. We wouldn't have got to over 600 pages in here if we were just laughing at them all the time. We've had discussions about Hillsborough, transfers, managers, etc in this thread. You yourself have posted in here praising the Liverpool lads that you used to go to games with. Do we really want two threads for each team in General Football or should we keep going as we are and use this a general discussion thread for all things Liverpool?

If everyone just posted whatever they wanted in threads regardless of the op's intentions, the site would be a complete mess, and it would just encourage spam.
It's a thread specifically made for laughing at Liverpool and their stupid fans.
If you want to make a general Liverpool thread, with both praise and ridicule, then go and do it, if it's such a hit then people will stop using this one...not sure why this bothers you so much.

Tbh it's pretty obvious that @piedpiper comments aren't so much a praising of their transfer business, it's a veiled dig at ours, and their are plenty of threads he can post that guff in.

But you stated that you were praising them for identifying and addressing their weaknesses....... Yet 3 of the 4 players you quote are attacking players, which is an area they haven't been weak in for about a decade!

They really aren't. When do you think we're going to go and spend £75m on a single player? Arsenal were prepared to pay £92m for Lemar.

At the last Premier League financial reports, Arsenal had a turnover of £354m, Liverpool £302m. Ours was £210m, around 65% of Liverpool's. Our wage bill is around half that of both of them - Liverpool £208m, Arsenal £195m, Tottenham £100m. Liverpool pay Coutinho £200k a week and several others including squad players like Milner over £100k a week. Arsenal pay Özil and Sanchez £150k a week and around ten or so more players £100k+

Let's face it, if us, Liverpool and Arsenal all go in for the same player and their primary motivation is money we don't stand a chance (that's if we can even match the transfer fee to get to negotiate a deal in the first place...)

I

My admiration stems from HOW they have gone about their business.

Illegally tapping up an opposition player then paying at least 30 million pounds more than he's worth thus compounding the inflationary effect of Man U and the Oil slavers?

Personally I prefer Spurs way of paying Ajax a decent whack in an amicable piece of business for one of the brightest young talents in the world in his position.

But each to their own I suppose.

Hopefully that will change next year when we move in to a big stadium and Arsenal have yet another season without CL football.

Their decisiveness? They took how many seasons to get a half decent CB in for a stupid amount. Not really what I'd call decisive.

You're positively acknowledging a club for not being shit basically.

As for how early in the window... That's because MONEY. Simple.

I’m not sure £75 million for VVD can be construed as “good business,” but I get where you’re coming from.

Go fly a kite... How do you IGNORE their other business. This is getting utterly boring... Was Salah.Mane'. Coutinho bad business.

They were not getting CL football for a number of seasons... Their player acquisitions got them there. But lets all ignore that.

But it was the signing of VVD that had you shooting your load all over Anfield and beyond.

Teams sign good players. It's football. What have Liverpool done that's any different to what Spurs has done - except we've done it better, more efficiently and built a massive fucking stadium at the same time?

Coutinho, Salah, Mane, Lallana = Eriksen, Dele, Son. When you factor in Lovren and Toby the ledger is firmly on Spurs' side. And we STILL built that stadium.

I guess you ignored the paragraph in my original post where i mention Salah/Mane' and their signing of Naby Keita...
All im saying is they've gone after their targets doing business early and wanted Keita so badly that they bought him a year ahead... Now wether it works is mot the point...

They've identified all their targets and gone after them.. Thats what i like.they havent dithered, they haven't waited for other clubs to do their business first and then feed off the scraps. They havent waited for the "so called bargains".

They know what they want and are going after those players...
