So we may be selling Llorente the back up striker, we might not have a back up to said back up, and it may be to just about anybody but Chelsea. That sounds more or less like a normal transfer window to me.

We have never done our striker transfers well at all.

Just lucky that Harry is one of our own.

We can't let Llorente go without a replacement. We would be fucked if Kane got injured, even more so if Son picked up an injury at the same time we would literally have no one up front.

Maybe if we actually had a player that could cross the ball, exepct Trips, Llorente would be useful.

Might not mean anything other than looking however Maxi Gomez Celta Vigo has been watched in last four games by Spurs

10 goals in 20 games? They only signed him last summer albeit for peanuts. 21 year old, 20 games or not they’d want a decent sum.

100% agree on both points. The fact he hasn't shown much for Spurs makes me think we don't need to replace him with much but we need to replace him if he goes.

One of my continual gripes has been the latter point though - we knew what he was good at when we signed him, yet we don't play to his strengths. Newport was case and point - spent the first half under pressure, trying to play up from the back against a hard pressing team on a poor pitch - why not play it long to FL and play off him for 15-20mins, take the sting out of their game and relieve the pressure? Nope, we kept doing the same.

When we've brought him into games, we haven't put more balls in the box, or transitioned play quicker to him (and then off him) so why put him on??

If we don't want to change styles then we need an option who works like Kane. Maybe not as well but with the same style.

They had a deal to sell him to China agreed & it fell through.. think it was around 20ml euro mark but some weird things going on with tax ratest over there..Your man Bakambu bought out his own contract for 40 ml & new rules anything over 5ml is subject to 50% tax

Son is our striker backup to Kane if Llorente goes.

FWIW i think Llorente is fine, but we don't ever play the sort of football that utilises a target man.

I cant help but feel that any dealings with Chelsea are of the time-wasting ilk. As in running down thier time by feigning interest in a deal...

For those saying we won't replace Llorente, here is a theory.

Son replaces Llorente as our back up striker.

Then Lucas (moura) replaces Son as our right side pace off the bench.

So in essence Lucas replaces Llorente.

Just a theory.

Agree Son can play there but i prefer his movement around a main striker. Just my opinion of course but often starting him central seems to lessen his impact (less space to move/come onto the play?). You'd think this is what Llorente was for - to play people in the 3 behind him who have that movement to play off him but we don't seem to do that.
