Can't really defend his mistake today... Was outside the box, but caused the situation by misreading the through ball and shouldn't have rushed out.

But regardless there are some hellish kneejerks in this thread.

But sorry man.. top keeper should occasionally save crucial 1v1, which he doesnt for a long time. True it was not penalty but was still a mistake. Btw that was not his only mistake when going off the line today. Remember last game and one before as well.

Tottenham Hotspur need a top keeper, whatever his name is... Not someone who we need to discuss/criticise/defend after every game. This clearly is a sign that something is not good.

What was his last really good game, can you recall? You might need to scroll down the matchday rating threads to find some..

I think he's a bit in his head regarding coming out. Not just coming out and making a mistake but also a few times I thought the old Lloris would have had a sweeping position to snuff out a few of those balls over the top.

Which goal was his fault? A goal keeper is only as good as the defence in front of him. The first was difficult to save a 1 on 1. The second was not a penalty. The third, the ball came through quite a few bodies and he clearly sees it late. He gets down quickly and makes the save but as he saw it late, I don’t think it is fair to him to say that he didn’t parry wider.

For me, the concerns are at the moment some of the decisions he is making and it all just feels a bit erratic too often.

Take tonight, for the penalty he decides he's coming out, and doesn't get there. But then one of the Sterling chances late on, RS knocks the ball about 20 yards ahead of himself into the penalty area, and instead of being on the edge of his box to easily claim it he's nowhere to be seen, I cant have been the only one shouting "WHERE THE FUCK IS HUGO!?" as the ball, got closer and closer to our goal. Carbon copy of the Salah goal earlier in the season, just not converted tonight.

Obviously its fine margins in the heat of the moment and he's not going to get every decision correct over a season, but that sums it up for him at the moment for me... We have one where he does come for it, but maybe shouldn't have given what happened, and then one he should have come for, he doesn't.

The 3rd goal I dunno, it did look like he saw it late and was scrambling, fair enough. Only he knows really if he could have parried it wider... But we were in that situation at the corner because the phase before he's come out and parried another one straight out into the onrushing forwards that wasn't converted.

And has been mentioned frequently now, this was again a big game where the incidents seem to happen.

It's dumb for anyone at this point to say get rid, but currently it's hard to ignore his form and some of what he has been doing and not comment on it. Especially when he is the captain. It would be nice to see some calm, composed, error free performances till the end of the season now that have an air of assurance about them.

I agree he’s not in the best form but our defence has not been very good recently. All of our full backs have been substandard. Sanchez has been quite hit and miss. Only Verts has been a stable rock in our defence. We miss last season’s Toby...

I put on here 6 months he'd gone at the game and was widely castigated, nothing I've seen since has made me change my mind. Weak parries, poor decisions, flustered distribution, week after week is the same. Nothing kneejerk about my reaction, he was great for us but he's finished as a top keeper.

You are right about defence but this just means Hugo will concede more of clear goals.

His big mistakes are still not good, mo matter how sloppy our defence is. Tottenham need top gk who is there to save the errors from defence!

Doesn't deserve to start for France based on his league form this year. Been shocking at times. Looks lost.

He seems to hesitant at everything at the moment. Was too slow to come out for the Jesus goal, so came flying out for the penalty. Last week with the pass back and at various times with coming for crosses recently

Some proper knee gerk comments in here. He’s a quality keeper and who are we going to get who is honestly better? Vorm is a good back up but I wouldn’t want him as no1.

Still think he’s been hounded a little.
That one against Stoke, yes he could kick it to the side, but c’mon, how lucky was Diouf that it smashed against him and cushioned down perfectly for him to score.

Today - if he doesn’t come out, Sterling squares to Jesus who scores. He comes out. Is beaten to the ball by fastest player in league. Is a yellow card and free ki—

O, no. Wait. Jon Moss is still waddling back. It’s a penalty because someone can’t do his job properly.

Either way I’m not quite ready to let go of Hugo yet...

So many excuses for this guy. No, he's not unlucky. He has poor judgement. Sure, it was not a penalty, but no matter what, he only has himself to blame. And look how he acted just before the corner that gave them their third goal. He steered the ball to a dangerous area (to Sterling). He should have done better. And all the other mistsakes this season.

I want us to keep him. But I also think he should be dropped for the next couple of games. Vorm deserves a shot, both in the FA-cup and in the league. If any other players made the same amount of errors as Lloris, they wouldn't be in the starting eleven. And I also think we need go look for a new goalkeeper that can challenge Lloris for the first spot.

If the mistakes continue in the next season as well then its time to look for a new No.1.

Btw who is France's back up goal-keeper?

I thought a kneejerk reaction was when someone reacts to something that happens rarely or is unusual?
