I'm curious to know how we go from fees agreed we've offered a better package than the chavs and it's up to Zaha and Zaha wants us to it's dead?

Take with pinch of salt - ie there's a possibility/likelihood it never got that far, but info gets skewed when being passed a long.

dont let yourself fully believe anything regarding deals until its communicated by the club, only leads to false expectations and inevitable disappointment

Every year you have the self righteous saying “Why don’t you wait until the window shuts” but this has happened time and time again and we’re always let down.

Completely understandable that people are worried.

Definitely. It’s unprecidented that we’ve never signed or sold a player with a week to go before the window closes. People are annoyed and concerned and they have every right to be.

We don’t even seem to be close on signing or selling anyone. It’s just strange.

shockng that so many people agree with this post. Shocking but unsurprising. So many melts on here.

There is no magic money tree. We operate under tight financial constraints and have bought well in the circumstances. Our first 11 is pretty much as good as anyone so our signings can’t be that bad.

How you can say you’ve been let down is beyond me really. Kind of strange entitlement you would expect from a Liverpool or Man Utd fan.

Mate we’re not asking us to spend £200m, just make a couple of decent signings.

Don’t be so naive about the financial constraints, the progress we’ve made financially over the last few years has far outstripped our transfer policies.

CL 3 years in a row, extra TV money etc.

We’re being outspent by relegation and championship teams.

We are not going to sign anybody. There I said it. Every other team wanted to invest and has done, we have not. Did we need to invest in the team yes of course. Am I disappointed well yes. Am I going to cry, well no.

We’ll still probably sign someone - but it’ll be a cheap opportunity (gamble) which presents itself at the last minute.

The silence is honestly frightening. By this time last year we had already signed Sanchez, Gazzaniga, rumors of Foyth & Serge. This is not normal.

I cannot imagine a club moving into a new stadium, with Champions League football, and aspirations of keeping CL football won't spend. It makes literally no sense.

Not being funny but Martial was off the menu and then he was back on it.

Grealish wasn't happening and now there's talk that it might happen.

Zaha was on, then off, back on and now dead so forgive me if I don't freak out at this latest development.

I always appreciate ITK but I never get carried away one way or the other.

Top post!
A case of who blinks first. It's negotiation.

Plus, I agree with most others stating that palace are reportedly in a bad way, financially, so they must be getting this backing from something....could it be from this deal, maybe, maybe not.

Let's see where this goes over the next week. I'll start talking about a lack of ambition and our manager potentially feeling the same at that point.

I’d rather we spent our increased earnings on keeping the current squad together.

We all want exciting new signings, but not losing any of our best players is even more important. If we bring someone new in before the end of the window, that’s a bonus.

Are you 3 years old? Obviously I was writing that from a different perspective. Insinuating that you’re more of a fan, get off your high horse you moron.

I was also replying to the notion that he is returning from holiday. He wasn’t on the whole tour with the team until yesterday’s game. Wasn’t a dig at your post.
Moron?
Go fuck yourself you prick

We’ve still got less revenue than any other top 6 club. We’re some way behind and that might only change for the first time next season. We have been outgunned for year after year so, even ignoring the debt incurred by an expensive stadium, it will be a number of years before we are financially competitive with the rest of the top 6.

LETS BE CLEAR...

We have consistently overachieved compared to our financial muscle.

Mostly we tend to leave our business late, not always, but mostly as its the most optimum time to extract value. Its been our MO for years so it really shouldn't come as too much of a shock. Couple that with the financial commitment towards the new stadium and its no surprise that we've seen little action on the incoming front.

I'm frustrated but realistic in equal measure. Levy runs things the way he sees fit, and its hard to criticise when you consider how far we've come in the general scheme of things.

I also understand the frustration, when it feels like we should be capitalising when riding high on the crest of a very nice wave - that's the frustration for me.

But these are all massive financial decisions, and only Levy and those around him understand the true implications of such deals, and in the context of planning around the new stadium and all associated cost.

The one thing that concerns me is what Pochettino has been assured. If there's been any goal post moving I wouldn't blame him for being really pissed off.

However if relations are all good, and he's happy, regardless of transfer activity or in spite of lack of, I'm happy regardless.

Pochettino being content is the single most important factor in my mind. If he's not, and goal posts have been moved it would be suicide on Levy's part given how far we've come under Poch. Really can't see Levy doing that though.

Clearly we do have a fantastic first Xi. My only concern is injury and the fact that we did really struggle to break teams down at times last season. Can the latter be resolved without entering the transfer market?

What happened? This thread popped like 14 pages in like maybe 2 hours. Did i miss a meltdown while doing some work? That would be supremely dissappointing as I love a good SC meltdown.

If Poch wanted him, we had ALL summer to sort it out. If Poch wanted it and we have failed then it will only be a matter of time before he is fed up of unkept promises and failed objectives, when he is probably hittting his all the time and will go somewhere else.
