Because Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Dembele and Llorente will be down to their last 6 months come January.

I can imagine we'll try to keep hold of Verts.

Nkoudou we may attempt to loan out again. Can't see Mousa leaving on a free in the summer.

We'll be doing something.

Especially if the stadium is ready.

Why do it to yourself pal?

This man, in the long run Sanchez and deLigt would provide our defence with stability for many seasons.

Can only assume now his price tag and attraction to other clubs has increased.

His highlights below from last night vs Bayern Munich speak for themselves

Missed the boat IMO.

Not sure there was a boat to get on.

Ajax see him as a major talent and wouldn’t want to sell him for a low cost.

Not having a go at you but it is strange how many fans think we can buy top young talent for a low cost, like the club selling don’t know his potential worth.

Wasn't the story from ITK was something like 50 mil but they wanted to loan him back for 2 years?

He's crazy good. He looks like he'll be no doubt best in the world in a few years. I'd put money on him being Pique's successor.

I would of done the loan back. 1-2 years goes quick. By then Vertonghen might be on his way down, we don’t know how foyth will develop as well. 50 million in two years could look very cheap. He’ll definitely be in the top five centre halves in the world.

With respect, Dontcallme, I don't think that's true. I'd suggest that most of us fans recognise that quality footballers cost a significant amount of money. For me, there's only one person at the club who thinks he "can buy top young talent for a low cost", but unfortunately for us, he's the one that signs the cheques. It's probably the reason why, ultimately, we'll miss out on the likes of Frenkie de Jong or Ndombele, which is a real shame because I think that either would improve us greatly.

With respect I don’t believe you have understood my point.

De Ligt is seen as a potentially huge talent. Getting him is simply about us putting up the money.

The elite clubs are aware of him and are monitoring.

People are saying we have missed the boat.

While people like you will blame Levy I don’t think it is simply a case of putting up the money.

There are other factors involved.

Oh I totally agree with you, mate, "there are other factors involved" for sure, but "putting up the money" would certainly help wouldn't it! Unfortunately, it seems that "putting up the money" is not something our owners are readily prepared to do. And yes, "people like me" will recognise that Levy is to blame for that.

But you have to do it on a case by case basis. The player I was discussing was De Ligt. I don’t believe Ajax would have sold him at that stage of his development.

I don’t mind people having questions about Levy’s actions but using a blanket “he doesn’t spend “ doesn’t work in every situation.

This Summer's Transfer Window kindly begs to differ.

He was always gonna cost mega bucks. We've spent mega bucks before on Sanchez and had we sold 60m of shit like Sissoko, Nkoudou et al we may have given it a go.

Eh? Where have I said we haven’t spent before.

Like everyone here I have no idea what happened in our supposed contact regarding De Ligt.

All I said is given his potential I don’t think getting him was simply about paying money.

Why people are struggling with that basic concept is beyond me.

Also, no one can ever call Levy the best negotiator in football after he couldn't get Sancho but sold Walker to City. Man that kid is good.
