It might seem tenuous but that doesn't mean it's necessarily incorrect

It's incorrect to blame lack of investment for the fact that we didn't go through tonight.

It's just a default angle that people reach for when we don't win.

Also I don't think Llorente can play much longer than an hour. He was totally gone at Fulham by the end. I'm probably a bit biased as I'm not at all convinced Lucas Moura is up to it, but I wouldn't have taken Llorente off unless absolutely necessary. Also Poch wasn't helped by how poor Lamela was, so once Nando was off we had absolutely no way of getting out.

Lucas is a classic winger in every sense. To take advantage of him, you need to be playing on the front foot. Otherwise, its just Lennon with 5 more inches and a receding hairline.

Embarrassing-particularly on the day we are quoted as 10th richest club. Joke!

Thats boosted by the fact they sell their academy off for 10m a pop, whereas ours which is supposedly good enough, get loaned to Stevenage and Gillingham then play the rest of their Career at Yeovil and the like

I don’t think we should use the (now disused) away goals rule as an excuse for the loss.

Both sides knew of this rule at the start of the season. If the rule was still in place, who’s to know whether Chelsea would have placed more urgency in their game after we scored, knowing that the 2-1 scoreline would have knocked them out of the comp.

Let’s pick ourselves up and look ahead to the upcoming matches. The season isn’t over yet and there’s lots more to play for.

You know what annoys me. I heard today that we are the 10th richest club (I cant remember if it said in Europe or the world) and yet the only one not to have bought in the summer. I really don’t care about tonight’s result. Don’t get me wrong, it would have been nice to go through but had we bought a few players in the summer or even in this window we might not be talking about a second team playing tonight because we would have had cover. I have always backed Levy but now I’m starting to rethink about him. Better late than never I suppose.

It would cost zero money to learn from things happening and start defending set pieces properly. This is the fourth or fifth time, and the second cup semi final vs. Chelsea in fact, we have conceded a goal in that manner. All second half for their corners though still we left two men edge of the box unmarked.

You can argue we should have more players, spent an extra _____ million pounds, sport at the top level is often the finest of margins. You have to learn and eradicate them as much as possible, and in some aspects where we have had ample evidence now we show no signs of learning. Honestly think being a bit smarter and focused is the biggest factor that gets us over the line, rather than what we do in the transfer market.

It's OK for u (maybe) I live up north and here this shit all the time and hard to go back with anything and just have to keep stomaching it... And before u say anything people know I love thisclub which is why it fkin hurts so much... I have no comeback to anyone currently... And can't really argue with it
I don't let it affect me anymore. These 'fans' are the first to go into hiding and not want to talk about football when they are getting beat. Level headed ppl will see the truth, they're the ones you want to talk footy with.

Moron enough to be getting paid a few grand to sit there talking bollocks for a couple of hours :D

If SC weighed that much out to this thread's experts we'd be skint in thirty seconds

I’d be a millionaire.

He starts most sentences with “I fink”. Yes Joe, you’re saying it.

It’s not that at all. He does it in games where we win as well. His attitude has changed this season. He’s rude.

He's short in some interviews yes but that's understandable.

He's given the media far more soundbites and been totally fair to them in the past anyway.

To lose on penalties to them after that second half fight back was sickening.

I'm proud of the lads though. Spurs of old would have crumbled after that first 45 no doubt. These boys didn't and it was Llorente who got the goal. So bloody happy for him. Shame it means nothing in terms of the final result. There is a mental toughness to us. I love it. We don't give in so easily.

At HT I called for Moura to replace Llorente, in the end I think that was a detriment. Llorente was just starting to get into the groove after the goal, you could see it. Gazza then lumped balls up to a small front line.

We are a few players away from getting over that last hurdle though. We are so, so close. Not a doubt in my mind had one or two of Alli, Son and Kane played we would be through.

Why would you think Kane would want to stay? A player of his ability is eventually going to want to win leagues and cups.

He’ll give us two years. If we haven’t done anything in that time or look genuinely close to doing anything consistently, then he will go surely.
People talk about Alan Shearer at Newcastle but they seem to forget he had already won the league when he joined them. Harry has nixy in his trophy cabinet and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be bulging anytime soon

We could be bank rolled and win something but joe wants to take his billions to the soil. If you think we get trophies for doing it the right way, look at the names on trophies in recent times.

I completely understand your frustration and I would love nothing more than Joe to spend some money on players rather than fine art and another yacht but history has taught us it won't happen. I always thought he would have done a I've gotten his name at Blackburn and wanted to win at least one title

If he was a classic winger, he would surely, on occasion, happen to dribble past someone. Or even try and dribble past someone.
