What about his wages mate.
We shouldn’t worry about them. If Bale does indeed come back to us, then I’m pretty certain we can afford his wages.

Doucoure is one of the midfielders we should be trying to get. Prem experience, and wants to move to a CL club.
Suppose that is an option maybe tied in to a stadium dealSponsorship ?
It just isn't us to buy a player getting towards 30 on big wages but you never knowYep that would be a stumbling block. Can’t imagine he’d be happy to take a pay cut, unless he’s desperate to get out of Madrid and there are no takers from the other big clubs. Unlikely I know.
Not a dig at you at all, but what it is about our transfer policy that makes people think that Bale, Isco or Asensio are remotely realistic targets?

Bale is wayyyy better than eriksen
Totally agree with you. This is not as outlandish as some would believe. There's a number of good reasons as to why he'd come back to us. The biggest stumbling block would be wages... but that would ultimately depend on how badly he wanted to join us, as he'd have to accept some level of decrease. I can see we would go as high as what Kane is making for him. And if a deal is made on image rights, then I'm sure he'll survive on the average $250K he'll be making a week. Don't get me wrong, he'll have to cut back on discretionary spending... so, only three supercars this year, as opposed to five. But I reckon, he'd cope with the sacrifice. It'll be extremely difficult, but with the support of the fans and Ben Davies, I have faith he'll survive this financial nightmare. Not sure the policy has anything to do with it mate.
I just don't think Levy would've bothered with the first refusal clause when he sold Bale, if he had no intention of exploring it if the opportunity arises.
The agents comments about the RM supporters today, the lack of celebrating goals when he scores, the fans booing him non stop, first full season for THFC in their new stadium.
Things are aligning
Sarr is a real live wire. Definite PL potential. Some more names to consider:
- Federico Chiesa (21, Winger, Fiorentina): The talismanic winger has been fantastic for La Viola this term, with 11 goals and 8 assists in 29 appearances (all comps). Skillful, hard-working, and has a real eye for goal.
- Ismaila Sarr (21, Winger, Rennes): The 6'1, rangy winger has really caught the eye this season with 9 goals and 9 assists in 36 apps (all comps). Very quick and direct, and can play across the front line. Will be interesting to see him vs Arsenal in the Europa.
- Brais Mendez (22, Winger, Celta Vigo): The playmaking, classy winger has registered 5 goals and 7 assists in 24 apps (all comps) this season. Wyscout had him in their La Liga team of the season so far (as of January), despite his team languishing in 17th spot.
- Pedro Porro (19, RB, Girona): The versatile wing-back has been linked with both Barca and Real Madrid in the past year. Excellent write up on him here.
- Christian Kouame (21, ST, Genoa): 6'1, powerful, versatile and quick; the striker has been linked with a host of big clubs this season. Whoscored had him down as their young player of the season so far (as of December).
Would have thought we could get Ziyech from Ajax for that (or even less). Bale and Ziyech in for Eriksen would be an amazing bit of business.Absolutely. You would have to think we could rind a decent CM replacement for Eriksen for £50m and with Bale up top thrown in it sounds like the deal of the century.
