Those two are squad players only. We don't need more squad players - players for the bench.

With Eriksen gone there would be a place for Ziyech in the starting XI. Besides, now a days there's a lots of rotations during the season so just few can count themselves as 100 % regulars, so Ziyech for sure would get quite a few games if he adjusted to life in the EPL.

Is this sarcastic? Vorm & Davies are squad players only. We don't need more squad players - players for the bench. Haven't seen enough of Ziyech and Van Der Beek to judge. We need to get back to having top quality CMs (as in the days of Dembele plus Wanyama) who dominate midfield.
Not so much sarcastic as more a criticism of our previous transfer business...

So based on last nights viewing, I've come to the conclusion I'd like about 8 Ajax players please, Mr Levy

Do Man City & Pep have priorities? If someone needs/wants money throwing at them, I have a feeling City & Pep will be at the front of the queue waiting to do it.

Have Walker back? I'll leave that to the powers that be.

I honestly believe City will get a LB, and CB, plus Fernandinho replacement before they consider replacing Walker

Agree with the comments on Ziyech. He is the sort of player Lamela could have been. Absolutely should be somebody we are serious about in the summer but I fear with de Jong going and the level of interest in de Ligt (he's not coming to us) then will they be prepared to lose Ziyech as well? The only way I can see him leaving is if de Ligt stays for one more season and they are happy to move Ziyech on, or he requests a transfer (not sure how likely this is). I don't think Ajax will be decimated. 2/3 players will leave at most this summer.

Would take Donny van de Beek as well from them but think he will stay.
I've read a couple times in the past few weeks that Ziyech had a gentleman's agreement with the Ajax chairman last year that he could leave this summer for around £25-30m in exchange for staying at Ajax for one more year.

Why does this thread always appear its head when we lose?
Three big games coming up, before we start the evaluating the failings of the squad.

Absolute bargain at that price. Doubt we'll get him though.

We need width and a driving creative force from midfield. I'd go as far to say that we need a new LB, RB, RW/FWD, CM, AM and a Striker at the least. RB, RW/FWD, CM at the very minimum.

From our current squad the only ones I'd keep are:

Lloris
Gazzaniga

Foyth
Vertonghen
Alderweireld
Sanchez

Winks
Eriksen
Sissoko
Alli

Kane
Son

That’s the ideal but only City have that kind of depth. If Liverpool were missing their two first choice CMs and two of their front 3 then they would be severely weakened too. Same for Barcelona too tbh.

The team I suggested pushes Alli, Trippier, Winks to the bench. That’s progress.

I take your point about Eriksen going but I think we would get substantial money for him - enough to buy a quality inside forward.

There is a balance though. Our great strength compared to Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd has been our stability. I think we should be cautious about buying too much. It will be very hard to buy two CMs who can come in and make a difference straight away in the Prem. Liverpool and United have spent a lot of money on CMs who have struggled in their first year.

I pretty much agree with everything here. Although the quality I refer to is your Tielemans/Maddison /Brooks etc. Not City 's level of depth. Like you say our stability at management level is crucial let's give Poch the tools to win trophies.

Talk in a Portuguese paper of us bidding 45m euros for Gedson Fernandes of Benfica. 20, only broken into their first ream this season, and got a Portugal call up soon after. Very much in the mould of Dembele.
