CM, DM, RB, backup striker, Lamela replacement. Those are the barebones requirements for next season.

Promote youth to 3rd string GK, couldn't care less who occupies that spot as long as they count towards HG.

I'd probably add Davies to that list but otherwise this post is spot on. It's more than just the quality of the players (although clearly we need more quality), our whole style of play and identity seems to have disappeared over the last year or so.

I think we've become too rigid in our style personally. Too regimented in you pass here, he passed there then you get it out to the wing and pass it to him etc.

We seem to have lost a really expressive and expansive way of football. Personally I think it's been hindered since we lost true width in the fullback departments and whilst I don't have anything against Davies, he really isn't good enough for elite football. Consistent and reliable yes, but a killer he is far from being.

Their movement and passing into moving players to open up space using triangles was wonderful. It had tempo and verve in its short spells before they retreated. We've fallen back on a philosophy of get it to Sissoko and see if anything opens up. Big steps back that we'll be lucky to get away with should we secure 2 more points in the league. Tonight was an eye opener, even if we go onto beat them over two legs.

No conviction in our passing, too slow building attacks that allowed their back line to settle and our crossing was cowardly. No awareness of how to develop danger, just kicking it up in the air towards a big man. It really was lame stuff

I read this earlier today and wanted to tell you to watch tonight.. There is a player there. He was lively against Juventus too.
Stand corrected apologies to everyone should have known he would be the one to score after I dissed him.

Contract situation this has levy with his pyjamas on written all over it if he can get something for almost nothing he will , nothing makes him happier I would think.

Man City or United will look at his first season in the premiership and conclude he is not good enough and move on

Small midget however will have noticed that his price is coming down due to being shit and his contract situation

And will take a punt for financial not footballing reason

Couldn't agree more. Been slowly regressing since Walker left, coupled with the decline of Dembele and Wanyama. We used to have pace and width, and the ability to dominate almost any midfield. Dele, Eriksen and Kane have been a shadow of their former selves, probably because we're so much easier to play against as a team now. Of course it doesn't help that we've barely been able to get the same 11 players out 2 games in as row all season. Honestly feel a top quality CM alongside Sissoko/Winks and a quality RB would make the world of difference to our first 11. The squad needs a hell of a lot of work though.

Another poor performance in my opinion. We don’t really have any creativity in the squad, if Eriksen doesn’t create a goal then we simply don’t score. Their keeper had a ridiculously easy night.

Two new full backs, two new centre mids, one new attacking creative midfielder and possibly a CB.

A lot of work to do this summer and I don’t think we will get what we need so hopefully the injuries calm down a bit next year. If the current squad, only 12-14 are good enough for where we want to be.

Sell - Vorm, Aurier, Trippier, CCV, Wanyama, Dier, Onomah, Lamela, Edwards, GKN & Janssen.

Buy - AWB, Sessegnon, NDombele, Grealish & Sancho.

If Toby goes then replace, and if Eriksen goes then replace.

In the last 4 transfer windows we have only bought 2 players who have broken into the starting 11 or 25 man squad. Sanchez & Moura. If you go back slightly further to 6 windows then you'd add Sissoko to that list.

When you compare the squad or starting 11 of our rivals over just 3 windows it speaks volumes about how much we need to do to catch up.

With Toby and Eriksen set to leave it becomes clear that there has to be a change in direction with how we invest in player development and recruitment.

We don't need 3-4 players. We need 8-10 players over the next 2 summer windows to make us competitive.

The Mail has linked us with Ziyech again in a 40 million pound deal. They claim we've scouted him for 18 months. In my opinion, he should be a top priority this summer, irrespective of the Eriksen situation. He is a great ball-striker with both feet, scores goals, is very creative (picked the pass for their goal yesterday) and works very hard off the ball. On that last point, I was actually quite surprised how he constantly was tracking back in our game and snuffed out some attacks we were building. He apparently had 6 successful tackles against us, which for an attacking midfielder is pretty spectacular in such a high intensity match. Others will disagree, but I think passing on him and going for someone like Grealish would be a massive gamble. Ziyech has proven he can shine against the best in the world, while Grealish has had a standout season in the Championship. The step up from there to a top club in the EPL, where expectations are extremely high, is major.

Just keeping Alderweireld and Eriksen, while signing Ziyech and Tielemans would improve us a lot.

Dier has to learn he is not good enough holding. Alli needs to not be an automatic starter. I don’t think we need a new forward as a priority. I think two new CMs and a RB are a far bigger priority. For one summer that is enough change.

2020 we should invest in a new versatile forward and LB.

Step by step and investing in quality.

Glaringly obvious where new faces are needed, RB and CM absolute priorities, others depend on whether Eriksen and Toby stay.

tbh it seems Eriksen's heart isn't in it, if he won't sign a new contract then next season he'll simply wind down, I think he'll leave which is a pity but for months he's been stagnant.

The best player on the pitch last night was their 19 year old captain, oh to find someone like him.

Fact of the matter is, we’ve all been over it a million times of what we need. Hopefully DL realises that if he wants to continue on this path, he needs to improve the team.

AS saying Eriksen has a contract agreement with Real and the fee’s 130m euros. Seems bizarre as Zidane’s pushing for Pogba.

It's useful having the press being able to place pressure when negotiating deals for top tier talent. Imagine if we were able to stack players like this.

Unfortunately I’m guessing they mean that amount for the entire deal including Eriksens contract? I.e 60-70m transfer fee, plus his wages? c£110m is probably around his true value but seems way too good to be true for 1 year left.

I don't know how they're going to do it but we need players with intelligence that can pass and move. We also need more mobility.

I'll repeat myself for the umpteenth time that we need a dribbler in the squad. Son is nothing more than decent and Moura loves to running into traffic.

Many first team regulars need competition for their places. Poch needs to change the dynamics (style of play included) this summer.

Forget the injuries etc but just like I prefer the old Kanye West, I prefer the old Harry Kane. He's become the best striker in the world and now plays like he doesn't need to do some of the things that got him to this position.

I'm picking on him because he's the best player. There has to be someone on this planet that can compete with him, make him feel threatened and keep him on edge. This player should also remind him everyday that Raheem Sterling is now England's best striker, finisher and player.

But that's just the starting 11. Then we need quality from the bench or to rotate players. As another poster says. Dele Alli/Eriksen IF he stays should not be guaranteed a starting position. No player should have that luxury even Harry Kane who can have a few poor performances needs some competition.

Why run the players into the ground. They running on empty as it is. Imagine a fully fit rotated squad with some youngsters who have been brought through over the season Just like Ajax.. We would easily beat them over the 2 legs.
