I’m only going to use goals that I was aware of in real time by seeing live or highlight of shortly after, otherwise there’s about 30 years worth of goals on vhs that my dad takes my eyelids open I’m front of when I was a child.
- Ginola v Barnsley - told you everything you need to know about what a left winger should be capable of.
- Bale 3rd v Inter away - being there to see it in the goal in front of me made it all the more special, my first away day in Europe too, but that was the crescendo reached after a 10 months of him bubbling away from almost being loaned to Forest to becoming the most exciting talent at the club (and still not near his peak). We were witnessing the transition from potential to class almost in the turn of a page.
- Kane v Arsenal in early 2016... even sullied by the Sanchez equaliser quickly afterwards, the euphoria at seeing our homegrown star striker score from an outrageous angle and distance against our biggest rivals solidified this near the top.
- Woodgate v Chelsea 2008 league cup final - seeing at that point our most enjoyable (and best) team in my lifetime finally win a trophy, and to do so in such dramatic fashion, will always be in with my most cherished Spurs moments.
- Lucas v Ajax/ Crouch v Manchester City... can’t split these two, the emotion they both created and the explosion of joy following matches that were so tense I can’t describe, each the culmination of a few consecutive seasons where we were trying to take the next step. The goal that bumps these two down will be the one that wins us the league.
Was the Ginola one in the same game that Darren Anderton scored a very similar goal? Can vaguely remember them both scoring lovely goals in a cup game.
