I think I meant change the title for 'race for the title'

If I wrote that specifically - I think id have been admitted to Broadmoor

you should’ve been, told you I would blame you if it all went wrong

For me that summer was the turning point and Poch's apparent refusal to go with second and third choices in certain positions set us back massively.

Levy's hiring and subsequent firing of Jose has just been the cherry on top.

Wish he had pulled the trigger in January and got Tuchel. I wonder if he feels the same.

But surely Pochs attitude was correct no?

We should have been in a position as CL finalist to sign our number one targets, not settle for 3rd choice players.

Agree with you. Signing 2nd or 3rd choices that don't bring the team to a higher level is a waste of time and resources and will only burden the club with a whole load of players whiling away their time on the bench.

He was told we weren't able to get the players that he wanted and to take a look at the other options. He chose none and so we bought none.

Trix has posted this previously and said that some of the choices he didn't take went on to be excellent players.

Football would be so easy if we could always get our number one targets. Buying Haaland, Dybala etc would make teams dominant. But it's not always possible.

We were doing well pre-Poch in the transfer market buying experienced players stepping up to the Prem like Lloris and Vertonghen, young players needing a stepping stone like Bale and Eriksen and sometimes just solid Prem players like Dembele.

The idea that the only reason for the transfer failure is we didn't deliver 1st choice targets is just not true.

And as CL finalist we signed the number one targets he wanted.

Bruno has openly admitted he was all set to sign for us and was hurt it didnt happen. The Sporting president then stated the money fell short.

It's been very well established that Poch wanted Lo Celso.
Agreed. We had Bruno lined up for a medical as we didn’t think GLC was coming... Dybala’s rights issues stopped that one in the summer, but was told it’d be sorted by the following January - obviously with poch gone it didn’t materialise. The above details were told to me/my brother by the same person who told us about N’dombele’s medical.

Yes. True. But glc was the wished for target
Edit. True in that Bruno was to have a medical with us; him being the back up to Glc

Exactly. It has been well established. So not sure why people go on about Fernandes. The reason we didn't put up the money was because our manager wanted Lo Celso.

Yeah, it doesn't change anything that they said that.
He was backup option for Lo Celso, we agreed deal for him but when Betis changed their stance about fee we went again for Lo Celso who was first choice

General rule of thumb is not to put up the money for a player if your actual target becomes available.

It's obvious that Dybala was opportunistic signing when he became available(he wasn't at the start of the window when we already signed Ndombele and knew that Lo Celso is first choice for attacking midfielder). Not a crucial signing
