Thank fuck Southampton don't convert their chances. We had 2 shots their 15 in that first half.

Getting in at half time without conceding again was remarkable. I'm expecting several subs and a formation change at half time.

The performance deserves to, and should be 4 down though. How can you watch that and think its anywhere near an acceptable level of performance?
It’s football , it happens. We aren’t going to play well every game.

They could have scored more definitely but they still didn't. We could have scored from Reggie too. They are still shit for not converting the chances. We were cursing the same when we we were trailing 2-1 to Leicester up till 90 mins. We just need to stay compact and press them. The space behind them will be their downfall if we are able to capitalise on that.

Yeah, Hojbjerg and Winks have been totally outplayed and bypassed, plus really bad use of the ball when they’ve actually got it for a second. Screaming out for a three man midfield, with Bentancur coming on to hold it together. At the moment, I’d take off Moura for Bentancur, keep Winks and Hojbjerg on to be the chasers. Sort of game where Skipp is needed.

WTAF was that? For about ten minutes, after we withstood the initial press, we started to control the game, made three good chances and scored a good goal.

Then we just gave the game back. Donated it. Chaos in defence, conceding a sloppy goal and then an endless succession of misplaced passes, positional errors, missed tackles and headless chicken defending.

The main problem was the ten or fifteen times a midfielder would pass directly to a Southampton player under no pressure. They were all doing it. The result was a 10 minute period when we had about 10% possession.

We never had a single minute of control after that. Southampton have done nothing exciting or audacious. They’ve controlled the match effortlessly in second gear since they scored.

But the point is we were lucky to not be several goals down. We can't always wait for half time.
How many times have you seen a manager make changes before half time? Especially when we had a period when we were doing well and scored

I don’t see anything winks gives this team except sideward passes and pointing his finger as if he’s a general?

They just look so on top of our plan to transition from deep into attack. Winks or Hojbjerg get the ball, look forward, and Southampton have already solved the situation,, there's no complicating factor., nothing unpredictable going on.

I wonder if Kulusevski is press-resistant enough to much up their shape carrying the ball from deep and distributing, as a meazza?

It will be interesting to see what Conte does here. We were poor for the last 25 minutes. And not more better before then. I have been watching Winks more closely this game and he hasn’t got near anyone at all. He keeps leaving people to the defenders but then doesn’t pick anyone up. I can’t believe he is following Conte instructions…..

Really bad half, apart from a 5 min spell we've been second best by some distance and with plenty of chaos and slapstick.

You know what you'll get from Southampton, they'll come at you hard and fast and all out in that 4-2-2-2 with roaming wide players that almost make it a four centrally at times. You've got to tactically be aware of that and then do the basics - be on your toes and expect the hustle and bustle , out work them, see off the storm, play through them and punish them for overcommitting. We just haven't seemed ready for it though.

What's made things the most difficult though is totally avoidable mistakes and errors that have dominated that half, from 1-11. Most times we've been under pressure has originated from a Spurs brainfart. We've got to get our heads in the game and knuckle down.

Booing at half time? What the fuck is that about?

Spoiled children.
Exactly what we don't need... a not what Conte is asking for... grow up and stop booing... we are still a team that needs a lot of work and rebuilding.
