Tackling 20,lol. wow he is immense on it! says right foot only but he is defo both footed. Man Yoo have also been linked with him. I would say that if our scouts are looking at players such as Samir Handanovic then they must have had a look at Hamsik as well.

I've watched Poulsen closely in several Sevilla matches on Sky this season. He's the ultimate team player, in that when the likes of Dani Alves bomb forward from FB, he moves across to cover. He plays very simple passes, and rarely gets anywhere near the opposition penalty area (apart from set pieces). He's also a tough guy - happy to go face-to-face with the likes of Gattuso.

At £7 million (his reported buyout clause), I'm not sure Poulsen is any better than Tainio for that disciplined C/DM role. Although Ramos clearly disagrees, since he's refused to pick Teemu at CM since he had Fabregas in his pocket in CCSF2.

Poulsen is more disciplined than Zokora, and a better reader of the game. He's not in the same class as an athlete (but then few footballers are).

Personally, I'd like a Lucho Gonzalez type (an all-round top class CM), or an Arteta type (a disciplined CM who's an excellent passer). So, I voted Llama....

Poor old Albelda lost his court case so is now in the Valencia stiffs for the rest of the season, such a waste of talent, might not even get picked for Euro 08 now

WHY would be take Carrick back after his 'departure' to the Red half of Hell? He served his purpose at WHL but, beyond that, he is not the kind of quality that we now want. Judas, (from Jerusalem FC) would be a close second behind Carrick....but he is, like his Pompey namesake, tied up at the moment! (TG).

On a serious note.....Carrick is 'yesterdays' meat.....in the real world. There are many better defensive midfielders knocking about Europe, better technically and pricewise. Let's put our faith in Ramos and see what he brings.....for we can be certain that he will have something planned COYS!

Hate to say it but Carrick has become extremely overrated by us ever since he left. We can do better. Indeed, he's not even the type of role we need, but a more destructive player.

One thing I noticed when Carrick left for Manchester United was that he started to play far more attacking than he did for us - and now, under Ramos, Huddlestone is also becoming far more advanced and attacking (that is, if he is assigned in midfield).

The reds can keep Carrick....we'll take Owen Hargreaves if they don't mind :)

RE Poulsen - is it just me or is this guy actually frighteningly slow? I seem to remember him being left standing several times when we attacked through the middle against Seville last year.
Nasty bastard as well. Not really sure what people see in him - though I admit a bit of nastiness wouldn't hurt in our midfield.

Are we still talk about Carrick ?
don't know why we can't forget the player who forgot us ?
I liked him too much when he was here, but he rejected to sign a new deal when MJ wanted to build the team around him.

I would like Paulsen, he is one who can suit our play.

Lucho Gonzalez as second choice, getting both and selling Zokora would be much golden triple alongside JJ !

We wont get Diarra as he's just moved to Pompey. You could do with a few more options in there really.

Miguel Veloso?
Lucho Gonzalez?
Jean II Makoun?
Kim Kallstrom?
Mathieu Bodmer?
Jérémy Toulalan?

Sorry got a bit Lyon happy at the end there, incidentally I'd love to see us get Kader Keita from them he looks awsome. Anyone see his goal in the ACN, think it was the semi final.

Isn't Gonzalez more an attacking midfielder?

Sorry mate, I'm probably gonna sound a bit stupid but Gonzalez and Kallstron aside, I haven't really heard of the rest?

Cheers for the suggestions though, don't think I can amend poll now as also meant to stick an option for other so people could vote on any players I missed such as these and Fletcher as mentioned in an earlier post but didn't seem to give me the option?

If any mods / admin are able to add the 'other option' or anyone else knows how to do it can you let me know, ta!

I thought Kallstrom was more of an attacking player too.

Kallstrom is fairly attacking but he's a very hard working player and gets stuck in. Gonzales is more of a box-to-boxer, and the type of player who will boss a game and dictate the tempo.

There was a discussion in another thread the other day about not necessarily needing a dedicated defensive 'anchorman', but instead someone who could develop a partnership with Jenas. The kind of 442 system which we play is reliant on the two centre midfielders having an understanding and always looking to cover one another when the other breaks forward. The best example of this I have ever seen was Gerrard and Barry for England. We dont necessarily need one attacking and one defensive midfielder, rather a partnership who understand each others game.

I'm not convinced Jenas will be the other half of the partnership anyway to be honest, if the Hudd can develop some consistency I think he has the potential to far exceed Jenas.

I dont think Carrick will be anywhere near the top of Ramos and Commoli's list.
Of course he ain't. Ramos has seen quality players from all over Europe day in and day out while working in Spain. Why on earth would he go for Carrick??
