Interesting here:

Lo Celso, Spence, Rodon, Whiteman and Dier in neither team!
Yea was thinking that why Rodon or Dier not CB over Davies 🤔 Spence sure because Porro and Emerson are better right now and Lo Celso seems to be linked with a lot of clubs so poss his future isn’t with us.

Not surprised by Tanganga and Reguillon, both have pace and are good on the ball.

A little surprised on Porro over Emerson, that defence scares me, but makes sense with the football he wants to play (and the players we have).

The west ham game will be fascinating.
Tanganga is average on the ball at best. I thought Ange would like Regi, Udogie is only 19 and needs time to settle in.

Well, I think everyone would agree that we would like to upgrade that position specifically.

But, if you were to ask me, who among Dier, Tanganga, Sanchez, Rodon and Davies would have the best combination of mobility and passing - it would probably be Tanganga.

Also - Tanganga has been training with the club longer this summer, and may be more up to speed with what Ange wants.

Everyone saying we need this we need that we need a new LB, Tanganga not good enough at CB, that midfield 3 is too attacking etc etc lol let’s wait and see!

This is a completely different style of play now it’ll be a 4-3-3, a high line, likely 2 inverted full backs, a 6 and 2 8’s, 2 wingers and a striker. Aim will be to keep a lot of possession, control games, quick pass and move etc etc so the likes of Reguillon, Ndombele, Udogie, Tanganga, Rodon, Spence etc etc who knows how they will all adapt to this, some will likely surprise us and some will likely not do as well as we’d think but it’s exciting either way.

That’s probably a fair assessment. For me the two most suited of those 5 would be Tanganga & Rodon but really depends what Ange wants and sees.

Dier : pace & mobility 4/10, passing 7/10
Sanchez: pace & mobility 6/10, passing 5/10
Tanganga: pace & mobility 7/10, passing 6/10
Davies: pace & mobility 4/10, passing 6/10
Rodon: pace & mobility 6/10, passing 6/10

No surprise for me to see Harvey White coached as a LB.
He's probably the player most suited to the inverted LB role.
Remains to be seen if the quality is enough.

He might be in with a chance given his versatility, our need to balance HG and Sess's injury. Would be thrilled for him if he did convince Ange that he can play a part in the team this season.

As some other posters have shared, a 3 of Maddison, Tanguy and Biss gives me the impression that Biss will have a lot more defensive work to do. I'd swap Tanguy with Sarr to offer a bit more balance while still have a sharp passer, who can defend and progress the ball.
I see where people come from with comments like this but really it’s a very attacking system and as the 2 full backs are inverted usually in Ange’s 4-3-3 it means the 2x CM n.o8’s need to be attacking and creative, so I’m not surprised to see that midfield 3 being trialled.

For me of the current ones who are fit my preference would be:
6: Bissouma
8: Lo Celso
8: Maddison

However Lo Celso looks like he could be off so the next best thing would be Ndombele assuming his fitness holds up.

Then when he’s back Bentancur comes in for Ndombele.

I think we could do with signing another CM n.o8 as we have too many defensive ones: Sarr, Skipp, Bissouma, PEH.

Well obviously we are looking to improve that position it’s the weakest area by a county mile.

I also would agree he is the most mobile barring potentially Sanchez. He however isn’t good on the ball, just cast your mind back to when we played Chelsea early last year.

However as mentioned hopefully we have a new guy in for that position relatively shortly.

Dier : pace & mobility 4/10, passing 7/10

Based on watching early training videos - Dier will need to work on his passing to get into the XI.

It's not his accuracy - its the quickness that will hold him back. A lot of training videos showing quick one-touch passing from the defenders, with no time to think.

Dier very much like to think about where he is going with the ball, and hopefully Ange will train that out of him - know where you are going before you get the ball, and move it quickly.
