It can. Someone says its def off. But that was not directly bread - hence apparently definitely

I'm actually thinking that Gards wasn't giving info, and was just saying what the plums on Sky Sports News have been saying. Basically voicing his opinion, rather than anything he'd got from his source.

I'm oddly pessimistic about all this. I only see one positive about not signing anyone and lots of negatives.

Next season, City will have Guardiola, Utd will probably have Mourinho, Chelsea will be good again, Liverpool will be vastly improved, Arsenal will be Arsenal. This season is our best chance, and will be our best chance in years, to not only get 4th but challenge for the title. I believe we need a proper striker as a back up to Kane. Not just because Kane may get injured but because he can't play every game then go straight on to a Euro championships, then having minimal rest before the premiership starts again next season. We're not the same when Son plays up front alone, obviously because he's not Kane and anyone we bring in won't be Kane, but Poch wants Berahino and must have a plan to play a certain way to fit Berahino in. He'll have a plan for anyone he wants in and there must be similar players around that will fit the system he wants to play. Doesn't matter if it's for 3 months of 5 years. I just think it's so important to do this now, not because I just want a signing on transfer day, but because I desperately believe it will go against us this season if we don't.

The one positive is that the players themselves will be happy that no one is coming in because none of them will feel their place in the team or the squad is under threat and they can continue to be happy and banterous with eachother, though signing someone would've given Alli a chance to wave to him when he comes into the ground. We're denying Alli a waving opportunity. It's not on.

I hope Ryan's info is correct.

We are more "the same" when a dynamic, energetic, multi functional player like Son who offers much closer to the facets Kane brings than West Brom's one dimensional reincarnation of Defoe.

Poch wanted Danny Osvaldo. Cost Southampton about 15m in write off fees. Redknapp wanted Joe Cole and didn't want Suarez.

I definitely agree we need another orthodox striker. But the above has literally been said every season for the last few seasons, yet here we are..

Yes but only if that player is available, their club agree a fee, and the player wants to join, and most of all if the player joins, and then plays he can do the job well enough. I'd rather try Chadli or Son then just buy a player that makes the numbers up
I think Poch does see Son as a capable backup, but he is certainly better on the wing, he isn't a true striker.

I completely agree with not bringing in a player to just bring in a player. But, we've lacked this backup through 2 windows now. We most certainly have had the time to appropriately identify players that "tick the boxes" for a backup striker. It's an incredible failure to go into the final stretch of this season with Kane as our only proper striker. We are still in 3 competitions, all of which we have been fielding strong squads in (minimal rotation). We are running a very high risk of burning Kane out. It's unacceptable, and an incredible failure by the club.

IMO: Those of you who are okay with not bringing in a striker are simply Levy sympathizers.

Trix put this icon :peeking: in the Berahino thread, my first thought was its a lock, and to lock the thread. However, it could be a sight/target on a rifle, indicating, as Gards also said, we have other targets.
There's a striker being quite openly put up for sale today, all over the media, fellow national Pochettino... But no ITK on him, unfortunately, so never mind.

It's a "peeking" signal from the Smilies that you can use on here. Trix has already given a "winner" to the post that queried his :peeking: in the Berahino thread.(y)

That's the "peeking" smiley I believe

So just under 7 hours time left, seems unlikely that a deal of the magnitude of Berahino (or anyone else significant) could be pulled off in this time without the media picking up on it soon.

Dembele could happen quickly I guess based on the prior info from Trix but seems that one has died too...

Yep but the difference is Poch has said he's learnt his lesson from the Osvaldo thing. It's pretty much the only blot on his record. He obviously still wants Berahino despite all that and he's got most things right with us so far.

Also never a bad thing to have a plan B.

Sorry mods, gone a bit off topic. Won't mention it anymore.
