Pochettino will never stand for a player going to the press like that.
Danny Rose is finished at Tottenham.
If any positive can come from this it's Levy changing our wage structure and paying our players what they are worth.
If he doesn't then this will happen again and who knows which player will be next.

We can't have that sort of culture within the club that players are publicy speaking about how they wanna get more paid or might leave the club etc., just so that the gaffer will kick him off the team - force their way out so to speak

Agree with him apart from the bit where he says he wasn't shit before Poch came .... that said this will ultimately end up one way with him gone, just maybe not this window

Never liked him on a personal level tbh, insofar as you can 'know' any players personality. Not in the slightest surprised that he'd be the one to lob something like this. Notwithstanding he's been pretty good the last 2 seasons on the pitch, I always thought he was a poisonous little fucker

Exactly! However good he thinks he is now, he owes Pochettino the respect he deserves and needs to quit this public bad mouthing.

Plenty of players wants moves elsewhere but go about it in the right way. This lacks class and proves that he has gone for being a useless, unaware full back to a big time wannabe. Ages out, picking up more money from a new contract - show the club the respect & dedication it deserves in return!

Poor show Danny. A real shame.

Did the hertyid quotes on the Rose situation make it over here? Thought it might be worth posting in the itk thread as it will get lost in the Rose one as that's moving so fast.

Apparently the quotes are taken out of context. But still he's an idiot for putting himself in that position twice over the summer.

Facts are:

He signed a new contract last year which doubled his wages.

He is a Spurs player until August 2021.

If he leaves it will be for enormous money. And it certainly won't be this summer.

Rafa was a legend but he was an injury-prone impact player who couldn't break into the first team at Madrid and moved for £8m on deadline day. Rafa never lasted more than an hour and his career peaked at Spurs. He was a genius and I love him, but I'm not sure Poch would even sign him now. He isn't fit enough.

Rose is talking like a fan who has played too much Champo and watched SSN every day for 6 months.

Poch won't be happy.

But still, the quotes are way out of context. Interview lasted over an hour. Sun article is about three minutes of Rose quotes.

On reflection, after my fifth coffee of the morning trying to get some oomph into my day, I still can only imagine this is a case of Danny Rose getting drunk and mistakenly confiding in the wrong person.

The quotes make for even more bizarre and unfortunate reading in the light of day.

I find it funny how many have laughed at me over the summer when I've been talking about fear of Rose leaving. Then comes one interview in a crappy news paper, in which he says nothing he didn't say several months ago, and the entire place falls to pieces. Which is it? Is it foolish to fear the could leave (in which case a little interview should be fine), or is it something in it? :oldman:

I think the reality is, we are in a state of flux currently. There seems no clear definition of where we are going and what the plan is.
Had the club come out at the start of the window, and stated the intention was to build on where we are at, not by signing players, but by developing what we have, saying that the continued development and integration of the likes of Onomah, Carter-Vickers and Walker-Peters, plus the fact last seasons signings would be stronger with a year's assimilation, giving us a clear focus of player development/maturity allied to continuity being our vision of going a step further than last year, I could have bought into that. Trying something different to the sides in and around is, but a clear strategy of where we want to get and how we're going to get there.
However, the line from the start from Poch, even up to a quite I saw yesterday, has been that we are looking to add 3-4 players to improve. This is where it goes wrong. We have had ample time to scout and sound out players to take us to the next level. They don't have to be worldies, they could be players of potential, it's about improving the balance. But two weeks to the window close, we don't look close to getting anyone.
The RB situation is exactly the issue. We sold Kyle Walker, we knew for some time that was going to happen, but weeks later we aren't even close to bringing in a replacement. Had we stated from the off that we were confident that Trippier was ready to become first choice, and that Walker-Peters was ready to be the backup, then there'd be little to no concern, but Poch stated quite clearly after the Juve game that he doesn't feel he is ready just yet, but here we are, 5 days after the Trippier injury, and only 2 days from the opening game of the season, we are not looking remotely close to bringing anyone in. Even if by some miracle we did sign someone today/tomorrow, they'd be nowhere near ready to play Saturday. The club can't state its too short notice to bring anyone in, as they've known for some time that Walker was off, and have stated openly that a replacement would be sought. All the groundwork should have been done as soon as we knew Walker was off, not just when Trippier got injured. There was talk of Pereira being the choice, but apparently Poch thinks the price is too high, well that's the window we're in, we've just got circa £50m for Walker, £20-22m for his replacement surely isn't too much. There needs to be a sense of realism of how the current market sits. I know we have to be run sensibly, but with the TV money and Prize Money around, we need to be mindful of the fact other clubs are spending it, and blowing us away on transfer targets to try and close the gap.
If the market we are currently in is going to see Everton spend £30m on Micheal Keane, and £40-45m on Sigurdsson, Watford spend £18m on Andre Gray, City spend £100m on two full backs in Walker and Mendy, are we really going to hesitate over £20-22m for Pereira, and £25-30m for Barkley, even €13m for Foyth? These three players would put a very different slant on our current state of the squad. We have raised approximately £75m+ on outgoing transfers, Fazio (3), Bentaleb (17), Njie (7), Walker (50), with further talk of Wimmer and Sissoko potentially following them out of the door. Roughly £50m would buy Barkley and Pereria, leaving £25m plus whatever we got for Sissoko and Wimmer, potentially another £40m, so £65m for a pacy WF/CF and a CB.

As a reality check, based on the fact we have no Walker, Trippier, Rose, Wanyama, Lamela, Son going into this weekend. We are looking at something like....
Lloris, Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Dembele, Sissoko, Eriksen, Alli, Kane.
Subs - Vorm, Carter-Vickers, Wimmer, Winks, Nkoudou, Janssen and ????? The final sub would have to be a development player currently. Juggle the starting team to you're personal preference, but ultimately that squad is looking paper thin. We have just 21 senior pros, which include Carter-Vickers and Walker-Peters who have little to no experience.

Would like to see us take a sensible approach to this. Everything he said is doable at Spurs (apart from moving up North). We could easily say to him that we too are motivated by trophies and if we win them then he will be paid handsomely (performance related pay). Yet let's face it, he has just been injured for ages and he has been thinking "what if it all ends now"? - He want's a higher basic wage, that is all.

I think he wasn't shit.... Just adapting and learning the position having been a winger in his formative years.

He's said a lot of what we are thinking as fans.

As s player he has a responsibility to his club. I see no way back for him. Poch will not tolerate it.

So how much are they "entitled" to? If anything clubs should be harder - it's the pandering to the new breed of owner, the super rich, that has lead to this bullshit in the first place. They are not "entitled" to anything, they earn their money the same as the rest of us but, for some reason, when players start expecting huge wages simply because another player has them, clubs buckle and shell out then pass the cost down to the fan.

And there is this belief that our players can't earn the same as others - yes! Yes they can! From the details that leak out most of our players are on contracts that are incentive based, with very nice rewards, rather than insane flat fees - lower basic wage means lower income tax, then they can earn a shit load more through competition & achievement.

But no, rather than reward success and contrary to all financial sense, clubs have decided that it's easier to just pander to greedy mercenaries who may end up doing absolutely nothing to justify it and leave under a cloud but waaay richer.

FIFA, the FA, UEFA, Charlie Chalks Sunday Cloggers - they ALL need to work together to deny players demands and tell them that if they want the big bucks then they earn the big bucks with silverware, goals and success. Here's your 100k a week, now look at the state of this country, realise that if you want 200k a week you need to shut the fuck up and earn it.

I love Wee Danny and i can't fault him for having the same view as the rest of the players, but it's the players - self interest can kinda bias opinion at the expense of the bigger picture and fairness. Speak to the owners and see if they enjoy shelling out to finish mid table, simply because the average wage has climbed to the point where average players are expecting huge wages.

I actively want the "Super league" to happen - removing these unfathomably rich clubs from the domestic leagues would improve them no end.

I gave you a 'winner' rating for the above, but I have to say I disagree with the last paragraph, I believe a European super league would destroy league football in most European countries and ruin it in the best supported leagues simply because in the eyes of the media, football outside of the super league would cease to exist, but that's for another time.

A lot of people seem to be running with the ambition stuff...why not stop there if that's the real motive?

In what world does wanting to be paid more to do your job not equal ambition?

He is also talking about teams that are investing hundreds of millions in delivering trophies this year.

I'd rather he kept this behind closed doors but who knows how many of the team/staff are feeling this way and how many times it may have been raised as a concern through the proper channels.

He's burned his bridges. No one crosses Poch.

I'd offer him to Utd and ask for Shaw and Martial in return and then go offer £15m to Fulham for Sessengnon.

I think you may well bring that laughter on yourself. You seem to be exaggerating: having "fear" about him leaving?? "the place falls to pieces"?? - neither are true statements. If he goes- you will be fine. There is nothing to fear. We can have a group hug if it makes you feel better. The place is not falling to pieces, people are just reacting (mostly in a calm manner) to a recent news story- that is all.
