Yeah, but he's also a long way from being good enough or productive enough to be that for us, as we already have a bunch of players, including the likes of Son, who can't get a game every week for us and are all more productive than Zaha

Son deserves to be in the team ahead of Alli. Son played his way into the first 11 last year and made himself a perm any fixture. He faced the same challenge this year and despite not starting at the beginning has done the same. Was mom against Stoke last week and this goes to prove your own point incorrect. Son does get in the first 11, poch finds a wAy to include him, even if it takes a formation change. Only Kane and Dier and Lloris seem to start every week in all circumstances.

I appreciate if you just don't like the plAyer.. Zaha is not everyone's pick, but your continued dismissing of him being needed is not being proven by your discussion points.

And for all you pace junkies, if we can bring in Sessegnon, he’ll provide that and is much more composed that Zaha was it a he same age, not quite as tricky in the dribble, but a real livewire.

I've watched him play a couple.of times. I don't understand why noone else has tried to sign him. I mean the bigger clubs. From what I've seen, he's exceptional. I even held the opinion he could be converted to an attacking LM, or be a hybrid. Absolute no brainer of a signing if he is available. Worth every penny of what they want. I rate him that much.

In terms of keeping us competitive in the league it's our CM that's I think is our biggest problem. So much of the game rests on central possession and distribution. Dembele is a shadow of his former glory? Harry Winks is still learning his trade and Dier isn't a natural CM, hes a defender all day long. Sissoko doesn't even enter the equation. So for me, if we are going to be busy in the window then some wonga needs spending in these positions. Even when big Vic is back it' going to take him a while to get back to the pace of things. An additional CM with decent distribution skills and an engine is a must. Cover for injuries, cm3 as a tactical option etc etc. Wish I could suggest a player that woudn't cost crazy cash.

Completely this. I'd be wanting to spend any money we have on two CM's of slightly differing skills, one more 8 one more 6. Aouar at Lyon would be at the very top of my wish list for the 8. Only 19, already a really complete and intelligent 8, tenacious, tidy, quick thinking and very progressive, and looks to get into the box too, I am loving this kid. Ironically the other type we need is someone like NDombele, also at Lyon right now, aged 20, big, strong but with good technique. And to complete the hat-trick I'd love to take Fekir off them too.

Edit

And Sessegnon has played as ALM plenty, including for the WCwinning England team.

Can't say I'm with you on this BC. These players like to control balls and play quick, incisive forward passes. And to make matters worse they actually seem to enjoy moving into this thing called space to make themselves 'available' (apparently that is the vernacular) to repeat the process. Not sure we can be having that type of nonsense here. I prefer the play the ball to my feet and watch me bumble away possession paradigm. It's familiar and therefore comforting.

Again, it's not that I do not like the concept of a Zaha per se, I keep repeating that I understand why someone would like him and want him as an option, I just have a raft of reservations about signing him now, such as what is our priority right now, how we best invest our limited resources, how effective Zaha would actually be for us, do we really need another hap hazard, erratic and unpredictable forward, whether we'd get the best out of him if he doesn't play every week, and then if not, what value that he would actually represent.

If we are going to buy a pacy forward, I'd much rather spend the money on Brandt, who at least has a brain and some composure. Or Fekir, who is different, not a pacy type, but is so much more productive and intelligent.

There was really prominent ITK at the very end of the summer window linking us with a CM who plays on the continent. Can anyone recall who that was? I'm bored and desperate; I need pipe dreams

Against City we did well until the first goal and then just fell apart and gave up. And it's not the first time.

I think we're just missing a leader on the pitch. Someone who can organise, motivated and just stamp his authority over the pitch. The Keane/Viera type. I think the last of that mould we had was Dawson, who as much as love him isn't at the same level as Keane/Viera.

Aurier is known to be fiery but not leadership material (so far anyway). Sanchez has promise but he's young and it's early days for him. Who else so we have? Vertonghen is more moody than authoritative. Lloris, Toby, Dier, Kane just can't. Wanyama possibly.

No dispute on Sessegnon he will be incredible.

Yep. I believe sessegnon had scored 4 goals in 3 starts as an alm last season. (Not all in a row).

I don't know much about the players you've listed, my only concern is the transition to the EPL. But any cover with proven ability would suffice to keep us competitive.

It’s probably and hopefully not us but has anyone else noticed the strange management of Dembele (Celtic)? He’s been fit for ages yet has found himself as a regular on the bench and only playing 20-30 mins each game. Surely you’d only do that to your best player if he was off to pastures new in January?

I heard from an agent that Tolisso was our most important and top strategic target last summer. However obviously went to Bayern. There was never any itk but he's not a bullshit kinda guy and I beleive that the mysterious target was Tolisso.

I thought it was confirmed as Andre Gomes at Barca, I remember a divine cryptic related to this.

I’m struggling a bit with the ‘6 midfielder’ thing. Please stop it.
Traditionally, in this country, 6 is a centre halves number, same as 5. 4 and 8 are centre mids.

What next? Trequartista becomes a thing again? Behave, try hards.

I definitely think we should try and secure all our business in January to be completed in June if that makes sense.

I don't know if that's harder to do than in the summer even though selling club gets I keep the player for rest of the season

I'd like at least 3 of the following in a dream world

Sessegnon
Gomes
Zaha
Goretzka
Pulsic
Martins*
Maybe Meyer as more technical depth than the likes of sissoko

*The one I'd like most

I think Andre Gomes from Barca was mentioned towards the end of the window?

I can't see us signing anyone at all, but we are in pretty desperate need for a dominating/creative CM.

We miss a fit Wanyama desperately, but Dembele is gone, I think that's obvious now, and we need more physical power in CM as a result. In addition, Dembele doesn't really offer much except possession control and some progress into the final third with his dribbling - but we need a CM who can both carry the ball when needed and see a pass as well. I'm not asking for Lamela-level through-ball incisiveness, but our current midfield offers almost zero penetration outside of sometimes Winks.
