I definitely think we should try and secure all our business in January to be completed in June if that makes sense.

I don't know if that's harder to do than in the summer even though selling club gets I keep the player for rest of the season

I'd like at least 3 of the following in a dream world

Sessegnon
Gomes
Zaha
Goretzka
Pulsic
Martins*
Maybe Meyer as more technical depth than the likes of sissoko

*The one I'd like most
From what I've seen of Gomes he's shite. No wonder Barca don't want him.

I realise he was rated before Barca - he hasn't produced.

I can't see us signing anyone at all, but we are in pretty desperate need for a dominating/creative CM.

We miss a fit Wanyama desperately, but Dembele is gone, I think that's obvious now, and we need more physical power in CM as a result. In addition, Dembele doesn't really offer much except possession control and some progress into the final third with his dribbling - but we need a CM who can both carry the ball when needed and see a pass as well. I'm not asking for Lamela-level through-ball incisiveness, but our current midfield offers almost zero penetration outside of sometimes Winks.
Not IN LOVE with the idea of Barkley bit he fits the bill. Can see Levy waiting til summer.

I'm not so sure - I think he plays a bit too far forwards for what I'm thinking. He could certainly be useful though given we're going to have to start preparing for life after Dembele.

That's him. Thanks. Anyone know much about him?
Plays CM and sometimes LM/LW so can see why we might have been interested in a player who covers multiple positions.

Played for Valencia and was their standout player I believe. Earned him a £30m transfer to Barca.

Barca fans hate him - he's been abject for them.

He has some skill, but has flopped.

The Palace owner believed Zaha was off last summer. The transfer cost was not an issue. However after offering Zaha £40k p/w the negotiations were over. Soon after he signed a new contract with Palace.

So unless we’re going back with a much better offer then there’s no chance he will be signing.

Also Palace do not expect Zaha to leave in Jan unless it’s a crazy offer. So again is this an offer we’re likely to make? Doubtful.
That's ridiculous. 40k for a player who fills a very specific void in our squad and as you told me, a played poch rated highly. That is not backing the manager.

The craziest thing about that is that a week later we panic-signed Sissoko on deadline day and are paying him £95k/week

Harsh, he's still quite young and doesn't get much time at Barcelona.
But he could be quite cheap and would offer so much needed depth in cm and he has better technique than Sissoko.

Dislike youtube vids but this one shows his little 15 min cameo for Barca, yiu can see how his forward drives from cm would be beneficial to our pedestrian approach

It may well be that I have an aversion to players we are linked with on deadline day - no thought has gone into signing the player - Sissoko and Llorente I did not rate before we signed them and did not ever want them at the club. I haven't changed my mind. Summer 2017 I turned on Sky news and saw we were being linked to a loan move for Gomes and a purchase for Llorente. Fortunately the Gomes deal fell through.

To be fair he was played out of position in that game, treatment like Onomah usually gets.
But perhaps you've seen more of him than me, only seen a handful of sub appearances. I just feel we need way more technical ability in the middle.

Frankly playing city was a splash of cold water, our options from the bench are shocking. A club our size relying so much on a academy prospect isn't good

Diop signed for Lyon but I think he’s been injured

Must admit, I hadn't realised he'd joined them on the last day of the window, maybe because he's not played a single game.

But I'm pretty sure he was the midfielder we were linked with strongly towards the end of the window wasn't he ?

does anyone actually expect anything to happen this window?
I believe it will. Poch knows he needs to integrate players and get them up to speed well before next season. He's said as much in pressers. He intimated that if he doesn't get his targets he'll be asking questions - "we couldn't (sign the players), again??" - presumably of Levy.

Personally no.

Despite our current poor form, we are looking at high quality players if we want to improve.

January is always slim pickings and many top clubs don't buy.
From what Poch said it sounds like we're targeting English players.

From what Hercules said it sounds like 2 deals are in the bag - but he knows not whether they'll be January or summer arrivals.

We were absolutely linked both itk and press. There was a notion that TOB the youth player had advanced enough for poch to let the prospect move elsewhere, which came from itk or someone lnowledgable in the youth thread; can't remember.

Has to be really our squad is overloaded with foreign trained players. Dier and Davies being foreign trained doesn't help the numbers either. So unless we selling , all signs point to English.

He wants business done before the WC. Not necessarily in January
