What do we need to win ‘titles’ ?

We have a good enough 18 but you need at least 21 quality players these days. Our biggest problem is with a few injuries we don't have the same quality replacements coming in. The injury to Wanyama has been a big one for example. We have Dier to fill in but he's being over played particularly because he also covers at the back. Lamela and Rose missed a lot of action too.

We're getting there though. I think we need to rotate a bit better in certain positions but we don't have the right players to come in. Lamela will help us rotate in the attacking positions. I still think we could do with one more attacking midfielder. Llorente is also a good short term backup but a young prospect that we can rely on up front. Maybe another experienced centre back.

I think we have to assume we're going to pick up a few injuries so we need a strong 18 man squad when players are injured. Not only if everyone is fit. A few key signings in the next 2 windows and we could be there.
I even think we could do it next season given a summer window that's actually worthy of title ambitions.

If we don't fix our set-pieces (corners, especially) and ability to make high value decisions in the final third - done well in the last few games, but overall it needs improvement - we won't, simple.

Also, poch has to tweak his player management a bit and drop out-of-form players when he should.

The game is about fine, fine margins at this level; if you don't have that fine tuning to match those fine margins, then you won't win it.

People responding "money", "rich owner" etc. I think are talking BS. Sure, say it in jest as a lame joke. But speaking seriously, I think it's evident that we've got enough money to win a title.

About £250M per transfer window until we hit gold and an owner who pisses money up the wall for fun to try and win trophies.

Either that or fantastic form from us and hope that a few teams who have owners who piss money up the wall have really bad seasons.

Even if we had our best season ever I would say it's really difficult to compete with teams that can bring £50M players off the bench in the final 10 mins to see the game out.

City are playing a different game to us financially, when we move into the new stadium we need to improve our wages and spend big on true quality for our first 11 and our bench if we really want to have the depth to compete in both the league and Europe and win the PL.

Sadly this is football now and I hate it.

Luck. Less injuries.

That's enough for a trophy. City are too good to take the league from but we're already better than teams that have won cup trophies the last few seasons. (Utd and Gooners last season to name 2)

My concern is that City might win the lot this season, and who can stop them?

Yes, we need to think about improving the squad (not just buying players because it's so much fun to buy and sell), but I believe we have enough money to win a title.

I think we need a player of the modric ilk that can pass intelligently and dictate play.

We have top quality centre backs, attacking mods and a striker.

Need everyone to hit top form

Nobody if they keep playing (and paying) like they are right now, I think they will go the entire season unbeaten personally, I also think they will do the treble, not sure if they can win the CL though.

I think we have enough money we just need to get into this new ground and then actually spend it on true quality.
Agreed. And also, I think Pochettino needs to improve a bit more to actually be able to lead a squad to a trophy. And that doesn't necessarily need to cost anything.

Since 2005 the league has been won every season by either Fergie's United team, Chelsea's oil money or City's oil money. Except for the one season where every team decided to collectively have a bad season and Sky decided that the title should go to Leicester.

To win the league we're going to need a load of oil money or a very lucky season where everything goes right for us and other teams have an off season.

First off, we need to get Toby sorted on a long term contract. Raise our wage structure to keep our top players happy, and stop the press going on about it. Get in to our new stadium with the team we have, all happy, and add Barkley, Kovacic, Sess, Shaw and a BIG signing for our new stadium, I would love to see Bale back for that. If we managed all that, by the start of pre season this summer, I think we can win the league in our new stadium.

A lot of ifs tho!!

We lost the title that season because we left it too late to realise how good we were

Whilst Leicester dealt with the pressure better

People saying sky are the reason shows us to have a small time mentality

We need city to crumble, than keep digging really gain more experience, be more flexible, pay better wages.

But all of this relies on Man city not being able replicate this kind of season. If they tie up guardiola and keep investing in the team, I can see them becoming like a Bayern level dominance in the PL. Not much we can do about that.

1. Higher wage budget.
2. Make the new stadium into a fortress.
3. More attacking squad depth.
4. Poch to figure out a way to get points from big away games.
5. More leadership and game management.

All the money in the world can't buy you the ability to field more than 11 players at a time. There is a logical limit to how big the gap in the 11 best players can be, regardless of money. People who think we need more money are lacking in vision, creativity and football understand enough to come up with actual solutions.
