    In terms of finances; agreeing to pay off the remainder of their contract and release them doesn't cost anymore than them running down their contract and leaving on a free transfer does it? Presuming that they would not be included in the squad and would spend the year in the reserves, obviously.

    It's not just about Traore, although on balance I think he would have been a good signing; we are possibly stronger in defence - that remains to be seen; the Prem is not Serie A and I've never heard of this Emerson guy so I've no idea if he is an improvement, Gilberto looms large in my memory...

    Its not that straightforward. Nuno may be willing to sacrifice Bergwijn in order to get Traore, as Bergwijn is probably easier to sell for decent money than Moura.

    But who, and when? I don't mind if we pay over the odds to get the manager a player he wants. If it were £50m for Traore or £30m for someon as good, but not as famous/good/prem proven then I might be with you, but if it is £50m for Traore or £0 for noone I'm going with Traore.

    Yes because a WP is visa, but part of the process is that the FA have to judge the player worthy of a WP.

    Very unlikely. He could make an application to vary his application before it's decided, but once it is decided, he would need to make a new application to change sponsor. Would not be possible in a day.
