4-3-3 suits our players more?

Even if we do sign a new defensive minded midfielder, I think the 4-3-3 system will be much better suited to the players we have.

The back five really picks it's self on paper, but a midfield three chosen from Bentaleb/Eriksen/Dembele/Mason/Alli/Winks and the possible new signing surely fits us better? With Kane/Chadli//Lamela/Townsend to be picked out of the three forwards, and we may also have another one or two to add to that too.

Basically a holding mid, with two guys around him really would back up the energy we have of youth. 4-2-3-1 just seems so stagnant and predictable to me. I know that they can be viewed as similar, but it's the defined roles that make the difference.

Yes, it has been noted for many, many months a 4-3-3 suits us more at the present time.

In fact, 4-3-3 is the superior formation in football.

The squad we had before all the outgoings this summer was better suited to 433. If we had hired a 433 manager a year ago, I firmly believe we would have had a better season. 433 would still be a good fit now, but slimming down on number of senior CMs, replacing them with 1 of the kind of CMs we are being linked with, maybe selling Soldado, deffo selling Ade, and maybe buying a couple of WFs who can play CF/secondary striker as a side gig, they are undoubtedly shifting the squad in the direction of fitting 4231.
And before it even enters this thread, no we are not branching out towards a 352. Simply not.

Eriksen is the sticking point IMO. He was a combination of fantastic and anonymous last season but could we afford to drop him. Can't see where he would fit in a 433.

Played in the midfield 3 throughout his career at Ajax and occasionally played on the left of the front 3. In fact at Ajax he rarely played as a no 10 so not sure why everyone thinks that's his only position.

I think the question is can he handle being in the midfield 3 in the EPL which is of faster pace and more physical than the Ere divisie. It means giving him more defensive responsibilities, if he can't handle it then I think we have other players that could step up to the plate, and he'd have to battle it out with Chadli and Lamela for the wide forward positions.

Do yourself a massive favour and give up all hope of this ever happening. Also prepare yourself for a bunch of Timmy Tactics telling you there's no difference between the formations.

Coached an U18 schoolboy rep side recently at our NSW State championships. The three opposing sides all played 433.....it is the default system the for the Australian FFA's national curriculum. Managed to win the whole thing playing 451. Basically it about the roles you assign to your wide players.....mine were expected to work back whereas the opposition left there's with little defensive responsibility. It is a mindset.....we had wingbacks while the opposition had wingers....getting those wingbacks to continually goalside is very important in this formation match up......oh and we also had a powerful centre forward who worked his arse off...terrorised the defence and scored six times in three matches ;)

Play him in the front 3 against teams when we need battle against strong midfields, all othertimes he can fit in the central 3.

He is not a #10 anyway, probably his least effective position as an attacking midfielder.
