A game without Sissoko

This game really highlights how well Spurs can play without Sissoko in the side.
Surely Poch can now see that.

The passing, the understanding, the fluidity, the skill, the crispness of passing and the movement has been off the scale tonight.
Right up there with the best in Europe.
Poch has been blinded by some crusade to prove everyone right about Sissoko, but at the detriment of the way we play best.

Sissoko has great endeavour and purpose, but his skill levels are simply not up to the standard of our 'A' game.

Surely Poch has to see this now.

Furthermore, psychologically, for the other players to know that there is a player in the team who can't play to the same level of skill and panache means that at the back of their minds, they can't play with the same fluidity.

Some players will second-guess each pass knowing it is going to Sissoko. They will play that pass without the confidence that the return ball will go where they want it to.
When we play the way we did tonight, we are 'in flow'. Almost playing subconsciously. Without effort.
With Sissoko, in my opinion, we play more consciously - having to really over-think where every pass is going.

Tottenham 'in flow' is a sight to behold.
Everyone is on the same wave-length. It seems effortless.

To maintain that, Poch needs to pick the players that play with absolute confidence of those around them.

Anyway...I hardly ever post...but as a high performance coach myself, when I see something so obvious, I feel compelled to post.

Over and out.

Totally unnecessary to use a good performance to slate one of our players.
It's not just slating Sissoko though, it's a valid topic of conversation. Sissoko, while he's useful in covering his flank and breaking forward with vertical runs, undoubtedly adversely affects the tempo and fluidity which we can play with overall. Tonight was a good example of what a team full of technically competent players can look like.

It's a reasonable observation to make IMO, and I'm not even a full-on Sissoko hater.

It's completely unnecessary to start a thread on this when this could all just be a post in the player thread.
It's just attention seeking.

Fair enough, I agree that it didn't need its own thread but I do still think that it's worthy of discussion in general.

I'm a productivity coach by profession and my job is spot areas where performance can be improved.
I'm just calling it as I'm seeing it.
In my original post I said "Sissoko has great endeavour and purpose". All credit to him.

But let's be perfectly honest here, that performance tonight was leagues beyond what we have produced when Sissoko has been part of the starting line-up.
This is a forum based around opinions as to how Spurs can achieve silver-ware. And I have every right to voice my opinion based on what's (in my opinion) blatantly obvious from tonight's team selection as opposed to team selections in previous weeks.

If Sissoko (or his followers) are so precious that they take this in the wrong way...then all I can say is that if he injects the same amount into his passing skills off the field that he does into his running on the field, he would become more of an asset.
These players get paid an incredible amount of money. I used to kick a ball with my left foot against a wall so often that after 2 years I could hit a 30 yard free kick better with my left foot than I could with my right foot!!
Every single thing players do on a pitch is a learnable skill. It's that simple.
If you are deficient in an area or two..go away and practice, practice, practice.

I'm simply encouraging Sissoko to go away and become more skilful in his passing. He could ask Dembele, Ali, Erickson etc to coach him to improved levels if he's serious about becoming world-class.

Some of you can call this 'slating' a player.
I'm just calling it as I see it.
As much fault Poch as it is Sissoko.

Tottenham tonight were fantastic.
How are you going to feel if Poch starts Sissoko against Liverpool?
Let's not beat around the bush on this. The team selection tonight is the only way we get into the Top 4 this season.
It's that simple.

I'm not sure anyone disagrees. You're missing the point. You had this thread written out and posted before the game even ended.

We have this everytime someone makes a stupid post on here.

Yes it's a forum and so you can share your opinion but equally everyone who thinks that opinion is stupid can say that aswell.

Think hes improved alot lately. Keeping it simple, bringing better players into the game. Good on him. You can tell dele thinks he's pants though - never passes to him when we're on the break!

My first ever thread.
I didn't realise we couldn't raise issues that were on our minds.
I thought everything I posted was absolutely valid.
Are people really that precious? Maybe I'm in the wrong place.
