A Thought On Ramos

I was just thinking, if we did manage to get Ramos as our manager, does anybody think that he'd try to bring some of his players over during the transfer windows?

I'd love to see Kanoute back at The Lane.

Any thoughts?

Not Kanoute, would take that Capel (sp) though - left winger, very quick, good delivery.

Kanoute playes better in the Spanish league. I woudn't mind him bringing one or two but i just hope he keeps on with what we have been doing and keeping a good chunk of the team Brittish and Irish

not only his players. he might bring in some talent they've been scouting for in sevilla. which sounds very promising given what sevilla have achieved with peanuts.

Ramos plays a strict 4-4-2, with two strong holding players in central midfield (such as Christian Poulsen, Maresca, Renato, Marti) and two wide players who get down the line and put crosses in.

Now, what's immediately apparent is that we don't currently have the players for Ramos's favoured system. Huddlestone is the only holding CM we have. Jenas and K-P Boateng are box-to-box players, and Zokora and Tainio are a bit of everything but not orthodox holding CMs. As for wide players who go down the line and get crosses in rather than cutting inside, Lennon and Routledge (and young Danny Rose) are all we have. Jol didn't play Malbranque much on the right because he's pretty slow, whereas on the left he can cut inside. I suspect this means Bale will continue playing LM when he's fit again.

I also wouldn't be surprized if Ramos looks at Kaboul and sticks him in at CM. But wherever Kaboul plays, he has to learn some team discipline. He's a very talented player, but he doesn't know how to play any position yet - let's hope whoever our new coach is can change that.

As for signings - we don't need another striker. If Ramos has the power to dictate transfer policy, I would expect to see the likes of Christian Poulsen at the Lane.

Poulson the bleacher who stamped on Jenas's head .

If Seville do sell us Ramos you can bet that there is an anti poaching clause in the agreement .

does anyone else think getting a foreign coach will end the policy we've had of buying the best young british players?

be a shame if it did.

Don't be surprised if he (or whoever the next Head Coach is) has little influence on players brought in. Jol was promoted from Coach to Manager while he was here. Whoever comes in next will report to Comolli as Head Coach, like Jol did with Arnesen, unless I'm very much mistaken.

I'm not sure we have a policy of buying the 'best' young biritish players. we have a policy of buying british but apart from Bale and Lennon i'm not sure who else you could include in that list.

Chelsea don't have a policy of buying great young british players (that i know of) and they are doing alright with the likes of Terry, Cole, Cole, SWP etc.. in their team.

Yanno, excellent post.

But read the forum rules. Insightful and intelligent posts are strictly off-limits. You should stick to drunken outbursts of indignity and anger. And you need to you the F word more.
