Spurs Academy (U-18s beat Arsenal 1-0 at Spurs Lodge, Chigwell on Saturday 26th March in an inter-group Academy Premier League fixture.

Tottenham's goal was scored by defender Callum Tapping in the 75th minute.

It was the first clean sheet Spurs have kept in the APL since a 4-0 win over Charlton Athletic on 11th September 2010.

I wonder if Callum Tapping is a descendant of the legendary Barnet and Romford left back Terry Tapping.

I doubt it.

Our Tapping is a Scottish lad who was previously on the books of Celtic & Hamilton Academical...

....actually hold that thought.

I've just found out that the Tapping family were originally from London and they moved to Scotland when Callum was 5 years old.

No Caulker? If 5 of them are premiership players in 5 years time our academy has done well. Yes that includes Bale, Walker and Kaboul.

Too bad that once they get old enough to play senior football Arry will send them out on loans to gel with some other teams.

yea your right only a fool would send their young players out on loan to other clubs, you'd never see a great manager like Sir Alex loaning out the likes of Welbeck, Beckham, Campbell, O'Shea and countless other promising youngsters would you?

That 'arry doesn't know what he is doing loaning out our players to gain first team experience

The stakes are so high nowadays we'd do really well to bring through just one product from the youth academy. There are plenty of players with potential but we (and every other club) has had thousands of them. I remember Yannick Kamann scoring a goal a game for the youth academy, Tomas Pekhart, Lee Barnard, Rory Allen, Neale Fenn.....

Sending the kids out on loan is a very smart move because competitive football is at a much much higher level than reserves and youth teams, and I reckon the phyical nature and demands are eye openers for some of the kids. A few of them have the technical ability but lack the physicaly and mental consistency that can only be achieved playing proper games.

What we need to do is create a little room in the squad for the progressed youngsters (currently the likes of Townsend, Naughton, Walker and Caulker) to get on the bench and play cup games when they are not out on loan. Strength in depth is great but I feel we are overloaded in some areas, especially when you consider we have three established PL players out on loan.
