They can't play Santa Cruz, Adebayor and Tevez (let alone Bellamy) in the same team.

It's ridiculous and I do think they may end up with some fairly pissed off players.

Hughes will go before Christmas and his signings will follow him out the door in the next window ie Bellamy, Santa Cruz, Jo (Everton perm).

You missed out Robinho! The thing is, they're all on about 150k a week, do they really care that much? Any move they make after this will see them take a pay cut of around 50-60k a week unless they move to Madrid/Barca etc.

Hughes will be sacked by late September i reckon, then Mourinho will come and in and probably win them the fucking league in a season or two. Most of them will hang around. Be nice if it all went tits up though, just can't see it :-(

The thing is I think Hughes has actually been quite sensible in that he's trying to buy a team generally. I think De Jong and Barry are a good midfield pairing and it seems he's keen to get a new centre back so he doesn't seem to be just going for strikers.

But both Adebayor and Tevez won't be happy to sit on the bench ever. And neither will Bellamy presumably. I think they'll have to be careful or else everyone will fall out with everyone.

I do agree though that they look more likely to succeed than not.

I would say for a part yes. As you said yourself you cant see it going tits up and neither can i. I can see them winning the carling cup next season.

They will sack Hughes before xmas and then bring someone in with a history of success...it has always seemed odd to me they spend all this money on players yet make do with a manager who has won pretty much nothing.

They will win stuff in the next few years....as for the league i highly doubt it. Also i cant see them coming higher than 4th. I just cant see them being above man u, liverpool or chelsea.

Their defence isn't as bad as everyone thinks but when you look at Utd who have Rio/Vidic, Liverpool have Carragher/Skrtel and Chelski have Terry/Alex. They are very solid defensive pairings, until Citeh have CB's as strong as those 3 teams a title challenge will not be possible

They already have (on paper) the best strike force in the prem. Even if Rooney & Berby or Torres & Gerrard are the best pairing, if one of them gets injured they won't be as much of a force, whereas City can choose from 5000 strikers. They've got midfield pretty much sorted, buying Barry, De Jong, someone else who escapes me, as well as having SWP, Ireland and Petrov. Now they're going for defenders in the mould of Terry and Lescott. They might not get them, but they'll get someone blinding eventually, cos Everton surely wouldn't turn down a 30m bid for Lescott.

Once they get the defenders they want, i can't see how they won't be fighting for the league within the next couple of seasons. I know it takes time to gel, but those players are too good not to. And they will carry on buying even better until Sheikh Mybooty dies or something.

Fair play though, if it was us (and i'm very happy with Levy btw), i'd still be utterly excited and nervous about the whole situation. We all shot our load when Davids signed, and he was way past his prime (legend though), Imagine if we signed a Gerrard or an Iniesta etc, we'd go into spasm. City fans must be in absolute heaven, if not a tad cautious.

city will challenge for the title, i can't see why not? apart from hughes, everything else is basicly close to top notch.

man utd. lost their best player and topscorer while liverpool are about to lose xabi alonso who is very important for a player like gerrard to perform. arsenal haven't contested for the title in years and with adebayor gone won't be for a while.

chelsea have been very quiet up till now in terms of incoming transfers but the squad they already have should be sufficient.

i can see city, chelsea and man utd. battling it out for the title with liverpool and arsenal fighting for 4th place.

I think its a good price for someone who will guarantee you at least 20+ goals in the premiership.

You can't be on about Adebayor, surely? After all he only got 10, yes 10 Premiership goals last season, 16 in total. And that's for Arsenal, one of the most free flowing attacking teams in the league and the world.

He got 30 odd goals the season before and when his stock was high there was a lot of talk of Milan but that didn't happen. The fans also turned on him last season and i don't think his heart was really in it. This transfer, has shocked me more than anyone else they have brought in so far. Terry could top it though
