And we've got Livermore, Parker, Smith/Naughton, Caulker, Lennon, Huddlestone, Dawson, Defoe, and likely Rose or Townsend. There is no great lack of English players in this team.

Townsend may be out on loan next year, Rose may be surplus to requirements. Plenty of promising English players in the pipeline though, but not yet old enough to be registered. But I would imagine we won't have 3 foreign GK's taking up those spaces for long, and it shouldn't be too hard to find a serviceable Englishman to be 3rd string GK at the very least.

Sorry, I came in half way through the discussion and completed the list, didn't realise it was a comparison. (y)

Let's face it, how many English players are there who would actually go into our first team? The couple that would we would have no chance of getting. Have to hope on the likes of Livermore and Caulker to make it in the long run; certainly not out of the question.

If we don't sign him then we should definitely sign a similar player who has similar moves. You know, ... (wait for it) ... the moves like Dzagoev.

(Partially stolen from James Richardson of AC Jimbo fame)

Is this guy really that great then or has he just had a good tournament? Had anyone even heard of him before the euro's?

He's got family in the Midlands and has never wanted to move away.
That's why his move to United wasn't much of a success and he headed back down the motorway.

Would be good to get some ITK on this, one way or another - the rumours are certainly persistent. Could be agent stuff of course, but with his performances at the Euros I doubt there's much need to manufacture interest tbh. I've not seen him at all, but the match reports I've read definitely make him sound an appealing addition.

Probably no need to manufacture interest, but I'm sure there'll be plenty of parties keen to push the price up by whatever means.

I like the fact we our switching our targets back to young talents with enormous potential.

I was surprised we didn't go for Joe Lewis when he was released from Peterborough. Promising young English keeper on a free.

Is his name really Alan?

Yes. Pronounced a-Láhn, stress on the second syllable.
The Alans is the newly adopted name (ethnonym) for Ossetians (Dzagoyev is of Ossetian origin).
A bit like being named François if he was French, or Scott if he was Scottish.

So it's not Alan, it's Scott.

yes (although initially via FM). Been keeping an eye on him for sometime and fully expected him to shine at the Euros. Would love us to sign him (& Moutinho!)
