I find this hard to believe. It was less than a year ago (August 2015) that he signed his new deal which runs until 2019.

I believe that Poch rates him and that what may have happened is that some clubs like Bournemouth etc may have made some enquiries and we haven't immediately rejected them which has led to this speculation. He needs to be given at least 1 season, hopefully injury free, to try and make an impact. He's been patient and earned at least that imo.

The joy of the unknown.

Alli was excelling in the lower leagues and has been an immediate revelation in the Prem.

Townsend is doing great for Newcastle but most of us know he isn't good enough for the top level.

Pritchard has done very well in the Championship but unfortunately got injured in his chance at a Prem club.

We don't know if he is ready to step straight up to our level. At his age he needs to be ready now if he is to be a Spurs player. If not £8m is a good fee.

He's a talented academy graduate who hasn't been given his chance at Spurs. There was also a woeful decision to send him to WBA last season, he's been treated badly.

If he's given a chance and doesn't make it, then fine. But to simply toss a hot prospect away after a bad injury and a dodgy loan, sends out a terrible message to anyone coming through the academy.

How has he been treated badly? He's been injured for ages and I doubt he'd have gone to WBA if he didn't want to. He was given a chance to play some football which, for whatever reason, didn't happen.

Like someone said before, he needs to be given a proper chance before we discard him.

I personally think he has the ability and character to be a Tottenham player. He just needs to be given that opportunity.

Pochetinno must have felt the same as he gave him minutes against Everton very early in the season.

I felt the plan was before the injury was to integrate him into the team slowly, unfortunately he never fully recovered from the injury last summer.

I really hope he comes into preseason 100% fit and focused in getting into the squad.

I'm feel that Mason, Bentaleb and Pritchard have been prematurely judged by some considering they've been plagued by injuries for the majority of the season.

There were rumours that Mason has been playing with an injury/ not fully fit for the greater cause (whether that was a good idea is another debate).

All three should be given a chance to prove they are worthy of being in the squad for next season.

He wasn't treated badly yes but he went to WBA and hadn't fully recovered then he got injured again.

Was it a recurrence of the same injury? I don't know but he's had a miserable time. If we are going to go with the small squad setup Poch seems to favour, it really is important to have players who can stay fit IMO.

Was it not rumoured that he went on loan to WBA despite the club advising him that he should go elsewhere? I wonder if it's more a case of him burning his bridges or ticking the wrong person off to some extent behind closed doors.

Did his ankle in June then aggravated it in October, recovered in February but wasn't match fit for the rest of the season.

He shouldn't have gone to West Brom really and I think that was a bad move from us but I believe that it was more in hope that he'd recover and play some matches with them but he was better of playing some matches with the u21's with us.

It would be a shame if he doesn't at least get a chance to show what he can do. It'll be hard for him to break into our first team certainly, but I can't imagine Poch has even seen enough of him on the training pitch yet to know that he'd want rid.

Having said that, 8m is a decent amount of cash, and at 23 he's not got as much time on his side as someone like Bentaleb.

We also need to remember that our squad is limited in size to 25, and between them Bentaleb (I think he counts now), Carroll, Mason and Pritchard take up a reasonable amount of that squad without necessarily being of the guaranteed quality we need for a league and Champions League campaign.

Badly handled is what I should have put. I think it would be wrong for us to let him go without giving him a chance. 8m sounds like a lot, but it's nothing these days, especially with the new telly money. Would rather we took a hit on the transfer fee and gave the guy his chance to shine. The alternative sends a poor signal to other academy players.

Get injured and we will cut you loose.

Remember though that 12 months ago no one thought Alli and Onomah would come on like they have. They've both jumped him in the pecking order and we are bloated in the AM spots at the moment (8 senior players for 3 positions).

I do think his lack of pace/mobility might hold him back a little, although Poch has successfully managed to turn Eriksen into an efficient defensive cog as well as a playmaker.

Only if we buy-in a replacement (which I don't think we will). Whereas Onomah effectively taking his place is saying to the academy players - form not reputation, and keep on your toes.

For 8m, I think he will go and the proceed will go for other players in key areas like striker and CM. we still got Onomah not getting enuf games.

I think it will also be fair for his progress as well. What's the point of keeping him but not playing?
