You'd think we'd start with a lower opening bid though

We've been in Madrid negotiating for weeks though (maybe not just about Negredo). This could just be his agent's final whoring before the two clubs push it through?

Really? Is the Eredivisie top level?

In La Liga Negredo has scored 32 in 70 while Huntelaar has 8 in 20. Huntelaar may have the international caps, but Negredo is 2 years younger and plays for (probably) the best national side in the world in the same position as Torres.

Negredo is also a target man, whereas Huntelaar is just an out-and-out goalscorer. Negredo also has the physical attributes for the EPL. Even for the same amount I'd go for Negredo out of the two.

In all fairness to Huntelaar he didn't start alot of games. He made 20 appearances, not 20 starts...and still got 8 goals, which isn't that bad in a new league, in a team in crisis when he joined, without a preseason to settle in. The reason Huntelaar wasn't played more was because Higuain was on fire and Raul is pretty much undroppable.

Anyway, Marca have insisted for the past few weeks that Real are getting rid of Huntelaar because Valdano wantsa to keep Negredo because he is Spanish. I cannot see Real getting rid of both Negredo and the Hunter.

Plus it is AS...which is like the Sun of Spain when it comes to reliability.

Would take Huntelaar or Negredo, both are exactly the type of player I'm dying for us to sign this summer. Alvaro is absolutely fantastic, make no mistake about it. Some of the football he played last season for Almeria was exactly what any team needs.

He's a target man in size but has the skill and flair to play excellent passes to set up teammates and has the nous to score difficult goals....he would be a BRILLIANT signing....IF it's us

he is a beast and having watched him a lot he will be a success. the guy is a beast to defend. good work ethic

I said something having joking to Txiki Begiristain a few months ago that why arent Barca interested in this guy. Said they know he would be a good player, that if Madrid buy back wont sell to Barca though.

The chance of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo moving to the Premier League is ‘95 per cent’ according to Spain-based journalist Graham Hunter, speaking this afternoon on TalkSport, with Spurs the most likely destination.
The 23-year-old, who is said to have the physical strength, aerial ability and pace to cope with Premier League football, has been told he is not wanted at the Santiago Bernabeu despite 19 league goals last season with unfashionable Almeria during a loan season. And Hunter says that Tottenham ‘are in the box seat’ to sign the player after confirming stories that his representatives were at White Hart Lane last week to discuss a move.
The sticking points are whether Spurs can agree a fee with Madrid, with negotiations for a number of their players bearing no fruit so far, while the player could also be thrown into a deal to bring Xavi Alonso to Madrid as Liverpool, his preferred option, look to add to their attacking options. However, that move is unlikely at present and Spurs could tie up the deal if they move quickly

Graham Hunter says a lot of things, he is paid to generate tabloid rumour. Would still be surprised if we signed this guy.
