Am I the only one not bothered by berba leaving?

I was more bothered when Greaves, Jennings, Hod, Klinsmann, Ginola and Gazza left. Heartbroken in fact.

Berbs going is just irritating.

Would agree that he is a great player and that I would love him to stay but if he stays and next season we get 4th and in the champions league, then the reports will be that we wants to play in a team capable of winning the champions league and league title so the rumours will persist until we are in a position to challenge for the titles (if ever)

Now that would be boring  Bit like supporting Man U or Chelsea.

Yeah I suppose, but do we think that we could challenge for the league whilst Berbatov is in his prime. My point was that until we are in a position to challenge for the title people will always say that he wants to go a bigger club

Never heard of the guy 2 years ago.

The attitude with any spurs player: As soon as they say they want to leave, kick them out the door. Rarely do footballers feel the same connection with the club as the fans do and much of Spurs' lack of winning mentality in the past has been down to having too many uncaring attitudes. We're not title contenders but only those who love the club fight like we are - and they are a few.

Berbs going is just irritating.

I was heartbroken on just three occasions when Greaves, Jennings and Hoddle left.

im just getting fed up of the speculation and want the matter resolved. would love him to stay and if he wants to then i wish he would just sign a new contract to end the speculation. but im resigned to him going and kinda wish it happens soon so we can get a replacement in and look forward to the new season.

I think we will know for sure on sunday at the latest by his reaction at the end of the game. i'll get the tissues ready, it'll be emotional if he gives us the dreaded wave.

I'm not bothered, he's not a fucking Greaves or Lineker or Tequila Teddy. He came to us just because he couldn't be sure about regular team football whit ManUre or Scum. And if you look Keano, he wasn't sure about regular first team football when he signed new contract but he wanted to play for us.

And if we change great player to great scorer like Eto'o I would be more than happy as they both are in same age and Samuel knows how to find that fucking net like Lineker did or Greaves.

And if you look our team now after we got modric, we doesn't need a target man like Berba, we need scorers like when Ginola was with us as Luka will be the guy who challenge CR for next year player of the season...

I'll be gutted if/when he goes.

Let's face it, being a Spurs fan isn't about the winning!!

It's about the entertainment.

It's a team game and nobody is bigger than the club... and i'm sure we'll be fine without him TBH.

But... He's the most gifted footballer i've ever seen at the lane (i'm 25). And i prefer watching him when he's on fire than any other footballer i've seen, the way he can control the high balls etc. He personifies the beautiful game.

He doesn't do it every week, but doesn't that just make him more "Tottenham"?!

As a club i think we would get over it quickly but personally i love seeing players like him play and if they are in a Spurs shirt its a bonus.......so in that respect i'd miss him!

I'm nt bothered.

He is a balance of very high ability with laziness.

Yes. I said it. Berbatov IS LAZY.

combined, it still makes a great player, and at a club he will bother playing for, he will be ever better, but we won't get it out of him.

In recent matches he has not really done as much as our other strikers, (notably Keano) and some of our midfielders who are really putting in effort (eg Steed).

I would happilly trade a lazy striker who is very good for a fee that can buy us 2 or 3 other very good players.

What would we lose?

hardly anything to our strikeforce, seeing as keano is abso-frikkin-lutely immense. Sure berba is better, but this is a TEAM looking to win each match, and berbatov is not a superhuman matchwinner... he is just a very good striker. They are not the same.

Bent is a very good player, and needs more games.

We either keep a good striker, or we will improve the team as a whole. if we do both? It will make hardly any difference to our overall results tallies.

Either way, I'm not at all fussed.

Personally, I'm fed up of how unsettling he is. Admittedly he doesn't say much, but then he's not going out of his way to shut his agent up either.

We depend on him too much. Practically everything goes through him. He's our lynchpin and has compensated for our lack of class in the centre of the pitch. If we plan for life without him - utilising the funds generated from his sale - I think we'll see a much more potent and well-rounded force next season. A proper team, as opposed to Berba & friends.[/quote]

An excellent observation, one that is backed up by Steve Coppell's observation that we were more difficult to play against at the weekend without Berbs, as our play was more unstructured - his quote was something like 'they just came at us from everywhere rather than everything going through Berbs'

Sorry anyone got a link to this quote, always respected coppell as a tactically acute manager, even if he's flawed in other departments and I would be interested in reading it.

There's no more feeling towards his leaving as it's been dragging on for so long.

Here you go...

The exact quote “I would have been happier with Berbatov and Lennon playing because then Spurs have more of a defined shape. Without them their midfield was very mobile and it wasn’t really anchored,” full interview available here

http://www.getwokingham.co.uk/sport...394_were_not_dead_and_buried_yetwarns_coppell

Definitely provides food for thought...
