firstly sorry for any errors language errors as it's not my first language but i hope i can make it understandable as much as i can to share views with Spurs fans about our team which all we love and our position isn't good 17th with only 7 pts in 9 games and it's worse than last year.

GK:
* Robinson: can't jump too highly, poor commanding for his area, beaten by range balls and suffered a huge deep in his confidence since his unlucky mistake in Croatia and targeted by media a lot. His response was good sometimes and saved us a few times later in last season & against Sunderland & Everton. Need a Rest and should be backup for Cerny now.
* Cerny: not used this season, was ok against Chelsea (3-3) and commanded his area well against Southend at home in F.A cup. Look good in highlights in pre-season and most of Spurs fans asking for a chance for him but still doubts as MJ still prefered Robbo. so we could need new GK ?

RB:
* Chimbonda: His best football when he made forward runs. But that's was also a problem as players likes Rocha, Huddlestone, Zokora, Keane and Dawson covered his area when he was coming late to his own area. Need to be used in Zonal system or being dropped. Defensivly we suffered enough and not only Robbo is blamed for goals. Also lost possession many times.
* Stalteri: Didn't play too much this season, only in weak team with a lot of players missing and used as LB. Never impressed with his performace as RB, only against Chelsea 3-3 and did well with Ghaly to stop Robbin in that game. I've been heard that he is Sided Mid. rather than FB as he used to be that with Werder Bremen. Possible of being better than Routledge or Malbranque because as did some of decent forword moves when involved !

CB:
* Kaboul: Looked impressive, specially in the air. Look good with his movement and passing but lack of experience and leadership in defence which we need it too much. Scored 3 goals until now which it's good, we know that he have powerful shoots and more phyiscal player than Zokora and that's possibilities of being new Vieira or Good DM option if needed in future but only when both King and Dawson are available.
* Dawson: Always impressed with his nice fighting and bravery. But his problem about doing better in the air against physical sides and he needs to improve, Specailly in Crosses & set-pieces.
* Rocha: unlucky not rated too much after his mistake against Arsenal in Carling Cup. But he is solid player and he could start for a lot teams in EPL likes Birmingham, Sunderland, Wigan etc. in spite of doing better defensivly than us which mean he is still useful and could be decent backup for our current CB options. Also he has decent pace, heading, crosses & shots if needed as fullback ( Wigan last year + Torino ), Could be the answer for if Chimbonda didn't improve his game, only if he played regularly and get fair chance.
* Gardner: decent backup for Def as the same Man Utd do with their Silvestre. although he did some mistakes when involved.
* King (unfit) : He is our Captain. Although he is important leader for our defence & We didn't lose with him last year, nut I'm a afraid about his finess as he missed a lot of months recently. He couldn't be the same King for sometime.

LB:
* Lee: tried his best and since his back to the team and playing with G. Bale on Left. There are not problem with him.
* Ekotto: didn't play too much this season, but made an assist in 1st leg (UEFA cup) & did solid job away from home against Derby. looked more settled and i can see him more useful and better player than last year if we played more.

RM:
* Lennon : Not the same Lennon who shined in season 2005-2006 & first half of last season. As I can remember, he was good until our game against West Ham 4-3. He needs to improve his form and that's need a bit of time as he was injuried. One for the future and needs more time to be consistent peformer.
* Malbranque: Always liked his work rate and that's never questioned at all. He had decent skills and touches but i've said it a lot times he never did good job against big teams and always needs to round around himself to beat a player as his pace isn't any near of Top 4 wingers. should be backup as we need more skillful and speedy winger with better ceativity.

CM:
* Zokora: he looked against Sunderland & Everton, improved his work rate in recent 2 games against Villa and Liverpool. He made better positioning and job but don't know if he can continue like that or not.
* TT: Known as touch tackles and good option in physical games. Tactical player and very useful one as he can do decent jon on right or left side of the middle park although his best game if he was asked to be playmaker like he was with Auxerre as he have good touchs and decent skills. Could be 5-10 goalscorer per season if he played in his prefered role and that's only happened if MJ considered as 4-4-3-3 better option for us now to bring Bale back to his prefered position as LB.
* Huddlestone: Good work rate to retain possesion, good passing game and have powerful shots which needed for our lack of goals outside the area. He is a great 'mentally addition' to the team as he can link up the def. with the mid. and the mid. with the strikers. His only problems about his pace and we said the same about Carrick. Good future ahead of him and I wating to see him with 4-3-3 team because Hamann and Johnson aren't better than him !
* Jenas: Played some decent games recently and i can see him challenging Gerrard in Mid. battle in our last game. He always come to get the ball everywhere and help the players and i can see him doing Gerrard/Lampard roles with their teams with us only if we used their system here.
* Boateng: only used in 2nd leg in UEFA cup and i didn't see that game. But while he is left footed player, that's is good addition for 2005-2006 model ( Jenas - Carrick - Davids - Tainio ) or something else with the same players. very possible to see MJ using ( TT - JJ - Huddlestone/Zokora - Boateng ) in the future ! He could be used more in the future.

LM:
* Bale: Looked wonderful in Crosses and made some good runs on left and provide us some of creativity on left. I hope he can countinue his form and enjoy his football with us. But I'm afaird about using him too much on left could lose some defensive skills while he is still too young and needs to build on his experience as much as he can.
* Taarabt: only used as subs against Derby and made it funny mints for us. looks like he needs more teaching by coaching staff to make his game more effective as the same as C. Ronaldo in his first 18 months with Man Utd. But he is still good option for our first team and I hope MJ will give him a fair chance to develope. I can see him better option on right than Malbranque in 4-4-2.

S:
* Berbatov: A Key player for the team. Not looked as the same Berbatov as he was in 2nd half of last season, but I'm still sure he can build his form ASAP specially if he gets more crosses to head as we saw his header against Everton but we still didn't made enough crosses for him.
* Keane: He is 'Spurs Spirit', he is very vital of our team as he did a great team-work recently. Scored 4 goals until now and assists important goals too. I can't complaine about his dropping as we need his creativity. We looked 4-4-1-1 with him but the problem with that, it doesn't help Berbatov sometimes and I can see him good option for right or left foword if we used 4-3-3 or play maker in 4-3-1-2 behind two strikers like Berbatov and Bent and bring Bale back to LB role. for more stronger starting XI.
* Defoe: Hard Shoot striker who can score goals from nothing. Most of Defoe fans calling to start with him as they know he is very dangerous as he can beat defenders or score goals from nothing which needed if you want to be top 4 team. Man City, Portsmouth & Aston villa are interested to pay £12m for him and that's enough to believe he can do a lot of things here !
* Bent: As 3rd or 4th striker he can't do job and we can say he is a waste of money. But we spend £16.5m on him and MJ must do everything to make it good signings. While his worth only to proved if Keane or Berba are missing, that's not fair for someone who signed for that price. I think he can do better job if we reduced the competition for strikers from 4 choices to 3, and that's only happening if MJ considering new role for Robbie Keane. Then rotation with Defoe and both would make them a great players again !

The Manager:
* MJ: I like him and I can't complain about him if he is staying. But he must make big decisions rather than talking about positives or defending players or his record in recent two years. when i said 'big decisions' , i meant dropping poor peformer on the bench likes of Robinson, Chimbonda etc if needed, not using Malbranque too much while he isn't effective & the most important thing to use another system likes 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 etc to make stronger stating XI with good bench to cover every area in the team.

My Best staring XI: ( 3 options )

Cerny
Chimbonda - Dawson - Kaboul - Bale
Jenas - Huddlestone - Zokora
Keane
Defoe - Berbatov

bench: Robbo, Rocha, Lee, Lennon, Bent
( three to gight in the middle rather than two + more pace in forward )

OR

Cerny
Chimbonda - Dawson - Kaboul - Bale
T.Huddlestone
Jenas ----- Zokora
Lennon --------------------- Keane
Berbatov

bench: Robbo, Rocha, Lee, Taarabt, Bent
( Three in the middle + Defoe to be sold )

OR

Cerny
Chimbonda - Dawson - Kaboul - Lee
Keane - Jenas - Huddlestone - Bale
Defoe - Berbatov

bench: Robbo, Rocha, Ekotto, Lennon, Bent
( Good width + speedy Defoe + Good benchers for any needed change )

sorry again for any errors

cheers

Totally agree with your assessment about Jol using a 4-3-3 formation. It seems pretty strange that he doesn't use it given it is very much a dutch formation. Also given that the teams strength is its strikers you would assume you should try to accommodate your best talents by playing them in the same team.

Newcastle are doing just fine with Viduka, Martins and Owen all in the starting lineup.

My summary of the problems in less words:-

Midfield - no playmaking leader.

Defence & Keeper - simply no acceptable at the moment for international players

King - Great player, crap leader.

Strikers - Keane is god and a Tottenham man, Berbs is now phoning in his performances, Bent is total waste of money as all he is capable of doing is scoring from balls fed to him on a plate, Defoe is better than Bent but needs too many games or crap sides to show his worth.

Jol - Have utter respect for the man but is unsound where his tactics are concerned. He has also been treated disgracefully by the Spurs board and has been turned into a lame duck as a result. Must be replaced forthwith if we are to survive in Europe. Any plan to replace him at the end of the season will not benefit the club.

Now, what does one notice about my post? It contains opinions that the general masses are expressing. If it is obvious to most why is it not obvious to Levy & co?

I would also like to see Lennon behind the front two again..We need to get him the ball to make him dangerous and he had a great game against Chelsea last year away in the cup.. Its much easier to stop him on the wings by doubling up against him..

Lennon in the middle was genius from Jol, Defoes and Berbs movement was what allowed Lennon time on the ball. But I think once Chelsea realised he wasnt on the wing they adapted and Lennon was out of the game. Good first post, but I think you rate Huddlestone too highly, although if he was to start it would have to be in central midfield of 3.

There was no coaching option so I said manager/leadership even though I back Jol.

It is Hughton, Seggers and the rest of the old boy network that is dragging us down IMO.

Good post Q8. I wouldn't replace Keane with Defoe in a 442, but some interesting suggestions. You've given it a lot of thought.

So appart from gaining the CM we needed in Luka, nothing's changed. Still need a keeper, Cb, RB and strikers.

Um... we have the DM we need in Sandro/Palacios too... lol Gallas has helped out with the CB position too, although who knows how long he can last at this level.

Even so, I just voted and said we need a GK, CB and Striker this close season.

Have no one realised this thread was 4 years ago? Obviously the poll won't be correct...

I was shocked to see strikers wasn't the most voted and DM was the most voted. No arguments for GK...
