It's clear that Chelsea have a deliberate policy of hoovering up the best talent they can get their hands on, whether they need the player or not. That policy will result in a lot of surplus, evidenced in their absurd list of loanees plying their trade around the world. When some of the betters players, too valuable to be loaned, either fall out of favour or fail to make the grade, then their first priority will be to keep them out the hands of their rivals, which was probably their original intention when they signed the player to begin with. There will be exceptions, such as Mata, which presumably made irresistible business sense, but generally the likes of Schurrle will end up in Germany, Spain or at PSG, and most definitely not at Spurs, or Liverpool, or any other big English club who'd chop off their right bollock to have him in their team.
It's a shitty way to do business. But then I guess football is a pretty shitty business all round these days.
