I think its all smoke and mirrors from Wenger, this would not at all be in his policy of signings. Also Arsenal already have Nasri and Rosicky who do the same job. Also Arshavin would need to learn English/French? Be cup-tied for the CL? I really don't think it will happen.

Personally I have a funny feeling Arsenal won't buy anyone in January. Wenger will focus on keeping team spirit the same, and I feel in the 2nd half of the season use Aaron Ramsey and Carlos Vela alot more.

Also I think alot of clubs have been waiting for Arshavin's price to drop, finally there is an ok price I think more sides will come in.

Rosicky is dead (well not dead, but not likely to be fit/rellied upon) and Nasri plays on the left.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed a deal to sign Andrei Arshavin from Zenit St Petersburg is '90 per cent completed'.

Speaking after his side's 1-1 draw at Everton on Wednesday night, Wenger had suggested that the club were not close to landing the Russian.

However, the French coach has now confirmed the Gunners are nearing an agreement, but admits the final 10 per cent of talks can be the most difficult.

He said: "There is nothing new on Arshavin, I have been concentrating on the game and not taking calls.

"But the deal is maybe 90 per cent completed. However, the final 10 per cent of any deal can be the most difficult.

"Maybe in the next two days. In this kind of job it can be difficult at this stage because people can change their minds completely."

I actually feel sorry for Arshavin in all of this, those Zenit big wigs must be some shower of pricks, and now they are making him part with half his bonus so he can finally get away...

the pity stops as soon as he pulls on the shirt for them though

I don't see why, i'm sure he was happy enough to sign a nice big contract with Zenit when they offered to him in the first place. And he can't complain that Zenit lack ambition in terms of either winning things or buying players.

Imagine if it was the other way round and we signed him up on a nice big contract, won a couple of things with him in the team, continued to invest in new players and then he wanted to sod off to Spain to play for someone like Barca, we'd be pissed and rightly so.

If AA buys his contract out then he won't be joining any major European club, theres an agreement between clubs that they will not sign a player that does this, I believe...

There is, but i'm pretty sure that someone has broken this agreement already, although i would think Arsenal wouldn't want to be seen to be doing this.

P.S. Your new avatar is a bit *cough *cough 'camp'........Eek, what happened to the Harry one?

Sorry Ever/SS57 I know it's not ITK.

It was Newcastle who signed Guittierez after he bought out his contract, that is the only one to go through.
