sky sports breaking news: Arshavin granted work permit for move to Arsenal.

Looks like its officially over.

Not quite but nearly....can we bring Justin Edinburgh out of retirement to finish him!!!!!!

Arsenal have successfully applied for a work permit for long-term transfer target Andrei Arshavin, but his proposed move from Zenit St Petersburg is still to be finalised.

So apart from 3 games in euro 2008 and a few uefa cup ties, what else has anyone seen of him? Not having a go, he might be great, I only saw him at euro 2008 in 3 matches played well in 2 and meh in the other.

Well, they've just been granted a work permit so it looks like its going to happen. he'll likely make his debut against us as well just to really rub it in.

Arsenal sign Bergkamp. Spurs sign Armstrong

Arsenal sign Arshavin. Spurs sign Defoe

Arshavin is not in Bergamp's class in my opinion, and Defoe is a hell of a lot better than Armstrong could ever hope to be.

The other difference is that Bergkamp genuinely wanted to play for Spurs and wear the shirt of his hero Hoddle, and that the Champions league was not so all encompassing then, only for Sugar to foolishly turn his nose up at him. Arshavin only wanted to come to us, because quite frankly nobody else was seriously interested last summer

He has been called up to the Russian squad unlike Pav, so unlikely!

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has insisted no agreement has been struck with Zenit St Petersburg for Andrei Arshavin, nor have the club applied for a work permit.

Sky Sports latest!!

This saga is endless!!!

I wonder if we have then? :) How wonderful would that be to speak the player from under their noses. He could just be lying, but you never know.

Someone said earlier that a club has to do it, so its not anything that an agent can do.

I think this move will happen, or is there a magical deal we have in place that kicks in 2mins before the transfer window shuts if Arsenal can't stump up the money???

I still don't believe he ever came to the Lane or there was ever any further interest on our part after the move failed at the close of the last window.

I hope Arsenal get dragged to the end of the window and the move falls through leaving them to face the rest of the season with only the players already at their disposal.

I think Arshavin would kick start Adeboyars season and would also make the most of
Eduardo's return, really don't want them to get him (I think he would be a great success for them)

All I know is the door is still open for him if the move to Arsenal fails to materialise. So it would go right to the last hour more than likely, but to be honest I think it's a done deal with Arsenal now, shame they had to come in 5 days before he was to sign for us, they ruined everything!
