Bit annoyed about Mark Lawrenson saying on motd that Townsend's all left foot. He's very good with both feet!

Bale seems to be doing alright with just one foot!

If Stirling had scored a goal like that he'd be running out of superlatives.

I think an England call wont be too long if he keeps playing this way.

Townsend was already almost first team ready, and I'd be sure he'd have been given more opportunities had we not be challenging for 4th place since around late October. This summer AVB will really construct his 25-man rotation properly and Townsend will be a member.

If they stay up and his good form continues, you better believe they will put an enticing offer on the table for Townsend.

with andros coming good and young pritchard on the way i dare say that our winger needs might well be covered for the next few years

Would be lovely. Townsend is showing encouraging signs so far. Pritchard seems to have everyone lining up to suck his balls. If he really is that good, we'll be laughing.

Definitely his breakthrough loan, happy for him (and for the team next year). Pretty excited to see what he can bring to the team next year.

It's almost an even better thing now that QPR looks destined to be relegated. You know if they would have stayed up they would put an exorbitant bid in for him, which I'm not sure would be in our best interest to accept.

And, can I say that his goal came on a run of play that is very reminiscent to how Bale is used? He came through the middle of the pitch, dumped it off, stayed central, made space for himself, and despite a fortuitous deflection, it was a strong shot. I honestly think he could be a realistic backup to all three attacking positions behind the striker, and might even be our best like-for-like substitute for Bale should he need to miss time next season. Something I was mulling over this afternoon.

Back up for both wingers yes, and as a winger he can both stay wide and cross from the bye line, but can also cone inside into the ctral areas and score from there. Playing centrally as he was doing today is not something he's done a lot of in the past - maybe 'arry told him to copy Gareth. I think playing centrally might well come later but I am not sure next season.

But would love to see him have a go at it in pre-season as he has a lot of good physical atrributes to do it like Bale, including heading goals ! He is certainly a shoe in as a 'like for like' for Bale next season - providing that we remember that Townsend is llike a Bale of 2/3 years ago,...and still evolving.

Ever since his Europa performances last season he had something about him, been saying for ages he would suit playing in a front 3 of a 433..

A quick Twitter Search reveals...

Chris
'He's better than Bale! He's better than Bale! Andros Townsend he's better than Bale!' #QPR

Blake
Not gonna lie, I thought Townsend wouldn't do great a QPR, but he's been a revelation #ProvenWrong

Fraser
Andros Townsend's hairline though.

Michael
I do rate Andros Townsend, think he is a great player! #FutureStar shame he can't get more game time at Spurs just now #SoonThough

This is when you know you're doing well:

Kenneth

Ironically he was getting the abuse Livermore is getting now, 6 months ago, whilst I think Livermore is limited and not as good as Andros it shows why we have to loan out players to other teams in the prem

Unfortunately would there have been any takers for andros had Harry not gone there, I dont think so, which is a joke tbh, it seems the only players the lower PL clubs are only willing to take hyped up england players or expensive/young foreign "stars"

Him and JJ scoring twice in two games just makes me think why the hell didn't they do that when they were playing for us

Very good performance against Fulham, always a threat

True. Was looking their best attacking outlet until being switched to left back. Poor move by Redders.

Only critcism was that he needs to learn to cross with his right too. If he can flick a cross in with his right now and then he'll keep the fullbacks guessing.

On a side note, Redknaps face when they went 3-0 down was a picture. Never seen his twitch so prominent.

he does seem to be the dynamo of the team doesn't he? his good form actually makes me wonder what will happen when he comes back as i don't think it would be fair to keep him just as a back up

Townsend is doing something that is extremely hard to find in a young player: Putting together strings of consistent performances. He's done incredibly well playing as an inverted winger and I'd imagine AVB is watching his performances and sees a very "Hulk-esque" position as he is playing on the right and cutting in on his favored left foot very reminiscent to how his Brazilian once did.

Isn't it exciting thinking about a youthful group we could throw out for some CoC and early FA Cup matches next season?

---------------- Younger GK/Archer ------------------
Smith ------ Caulker ---- Verts/Kaboul ----- Rose
---------- Carroll ------------ Sandro -----------------
Townsend --------- Holtby --------- Pritchard/Falque
--------------------- Benteke (?) -----------------------

For me, this would be a treat.
