I actually don't mind not getting Fati if the only option was a straight loan. Only frustrating thing now is that before I was OK with say, just Johnson and a defender. Now I feel like I'll be disappointed if we don't add 2 attacking players.

The hatred stems from 2 decades of him ballsing up deals lol.

In all seriousness though even signing him on a straight loan would have been worth it! He’s a CL level player already and would have chipped in with some goals and assists!
I know right?! Hard to believe the last successful transfer we made was when Sugar owned the club

I don't think anyone can be blamed for that.

You've got to be a special kind of egomaniac to have your employees, including your new manager, all put a days work into singing a player that your club need only to pull the plug just because you know best.

...And so what's the cost? Literally nothing in financial terms. And what else? Nobody has any idea how he'll do, many were skeptical as fuck due to his knee injuries and Barcelona being happy to shift him, and even if he's good he goes back to Barca so they can sell him?

We've already signed Solomon, for better or for worse. We also have Gil. We also have Yago. How many young wingers do we want to block to rehab this player for Barca?

Fully expecting a season in transition, personally, but rampantly clear that nobody else is.
I am expecting the same. Will be better with better CB back up. Let’s hope we can at least pull that one off.

I would just like to point out that Brennan Johnson scored more goals last season, in the Premier League, with Nottingham Forest, than Ansu Fati has ever scored with Barcelona in a La Liga season. Do with that what you will.

Brighton aren’t in the business of developing their own talent?

This isn’t some hopeful 20 year old looking for his first minutes. He’s a CL level performer for right now.

Which youth starlet would Fati be blocking minutes for?

Our best talent in his position is 16 year old Mikey Moore.

The truth is Levy looks at every signing as an opportunity to buy low sell high. Rather than the building blocks of a cohesive team.

He’s tried to exert leverage he didn’t have, and it’s cost us yet again.

Building blocks would be the option to buy we wanted though, surely?

We all need to sleep on this. Shame there’s two clear camps slagging each other.
ITKs getting bad-mouthed too.

I 100% agree with you, but if you are expecting thoughtful debate, you aren't going to get a lot of it. Not with 2 days left in the window, anyway. Potentially a week after, when people have calmed down a bit.

The most followed posters on here are largely Anti-levy, including the majority of the Mods and all the ITK (Again, 100% entitled to their opinion too, and it's often nuanced, and measured). It's causes a bit of feeding frenzy in here, and people are itching to have something to jump on to have the latest moan - again often justified, as it's often a mess.

Issue is, though It often might well be justified, it's also tiring when every positive discussion point ends up twisted to a pro Levy stance, to springboard the next wave of negativity to drag us back to miserable again. It's rinse and repeat in almost all the threads at the mo.
I mostly agree, there is no real debate that can be had here. The pro Levy side of the argument is just as biased and rigid in their view, therefore I don't believe there is any nuanced debate on the matter. Most people are either Levy is 100% bad for the club or Levy is 100% good for the club, where the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I checked out the Levy/ENIC out thread to see peoples views and express what action I had taken against supporting ENIC and just had to leave. I was expecting a bit of back and forth between the two sides but it was just an anti Levy circle jerk with people talking about rioting, Beyonce and Go-karts. No good debates to be had there I'm afraid.

Some sarcastic tone going on in here. This bit of the site would be dead if it wasn't for our ITK's sharing info. Some need to wind it in.

That Alasdair YouTube video of him annoyed to all hell and how we tried so hard but got screwed by other teams is going to hit like crack on Friday.

I mean, I’ve checked it and BJ scored 8 goals last year. And Fati has 22 goals in La Liga. Sooooo there’s that.

Unless you’ve phrased that in such a weird way as to say BJ scored 8 goals in one season and Fati has scored 7 max.
