Not sure where the dislike for Rebic comes from. He’s rapid, direct, has a lot of skill and works his arse off. Not too dissimilar to Son but a bit more robust in terms of playing up top too.

I guess any player who isn’t someone’s dream signing is bang average on SC.
Last sentence - nail on head.

Hes actually a decent player, but I think people presume that Zaha/Martial was the main target. The options down the list have rarely worked and we usually want to shift them in a few years (Stambouli, Fazio, Sissoko). One positive that can be taken from Liverpool is that they seem happy to wait it out...they wanted VVD, wait til Jan, they wanted Keita, wait til next season, they wanted Allison, don't give up and go back again.

Id claim most people are the opposite, they aren't set on a dream target and would happily take anyone, even if it isn't an improvement.

EDIT: If hes the one we wanted all along, I take all the above back.

Yeah i’m surprised at the negativity. Looked a real threat at the World Cup whoever he was up again. Scored a great goal against Argentina as well.

Looks okay on youtube (like all players do - i know!):
Very strong, decent technique and fast. Would hopefully improve a lot under poch as well (clutching at straws here i know)

Not the worst player we could go for but would rather have Martial or Zaha.

Martial and Zaha would both be very exciting, but this guy has achieved more in his shirt career than both. I think if we collectively knew/ had seen a similar amount of him, but his name was Rebinho and he played for Santos, there’d be far more positivity.

Sorry if this has been discussed but has he not signed a new contract recently?

Very composed, strong player who plays well on the big occasion. I wouldn't be disappointed if we signed him.

In all fairness, I haven't looked through their forums - I got the impression that they didn't rate him at all from a tweet a few months ago when he was being linked to United €50m. All the replies were very much, "take it immediately and run"

Twitter is full of idiots.

Just desperation being shown now.
Is he that bad a player then?

I genuinely want someone who has watched him play explain to me what makes him any worse a possible signing than anyone else outside of Zaha or Martial.

So many experts appear when we're 'linked' to a player.

Because I don't think he is particularly good. When it comes to attackers we need to be shopping for the Zaha's and Martials, not Rebic.
You've seen a lot of him then outside of the world cup?
