I get you in the sense that it's been allowed to build up in our expectations. Martial is a dream signing, I think that I will be more upset if Aurier doesn't get concluded.

I don't even think it's that tbh.

I think the problem is we are so married to the ideas of a pacy forward, signing of intent, marquee player, etc. etc. that when we get linked to one we fixate on it and break in very harsh polar opposite opinions. Especially when there is not publically available alternatives to debate between.

Well if that's the case, Janssen can't go before Martial comes in else we will be left with only Kane if the Martial transfer were to break down at the last minute.

61 pages in and STILL people are coming in to this thread just to type "no chance" or "never gonna happen".

We're all (mostly) adults in here, we all understand the concept of getting your hopes up and seeing them dashed at the final hurdle but it seems apparent to me that there a LOT of people on this forum who have to dismiss this out of hand when they have absolutely no idea what will happen simply because they cannot handle feeling disappointed.

I've made no secret how much I want us to sign Martial. I'm getting my hopes up, I don't give a fuck. If it doesn't happen then sure, I'll feel a bit bummed out but funny thing, I'll get over it cos I'm a grown up.

Honestly, give me strength. We all need a little hope in our lives.
