Reads to me that Maguire is not an option and so the focus will be back on Toby. Seems like they recognise that will lose them Martial hence needing to replace him with Perisic?

Most likely, but also could simply be them accepting he has to leave, there's 2 weeks left and the only decent offer on the table is from us, and the player wants us too.

Excellent post. 12 months ago we’d have laughed at the idea of getting rid of him. Sanchez’s performances have been very promising, including at the WC, and generally we didn’t miss him as much as we missed, say, Walker. Then his recent ‘unjustified’ comments suggest he has no real self awareness of his situation which is either monumentally stupid or narcissistic, or both.
He’s not showing any signs of being a genuine club man, nor is he invaluable because of his injuries and Sanchez.
I’d sell him regardless because he sounds like a highly polished bell-end and Poch hates those kind of players
People are reading far too much into the ‘unjustified’ comment. I’m pretty sure he said ‘I want to show that it was unjustified.’ That’s a very different, and perfectly acceptable comment.

Everything up to ‘unjustified’ is fine. That word is loaded with objective value, is culturally emotive and, in the broader context of how he’s behaved according to very reliable itk, self serving

Unless there's some language barrier it appears he named his kid fucking "Swan Anthony Martial", that is questionable judgement if I've ever seen it. Not sure about this dude anymore.

Would you rather go against a Toby, Bailly partnership or have Martial attacking us in ManU's current setup? That duo is going to make them really damn solid at the back and not easy to break down.

My stance has been De Ligt + Martial is probably better than Toby, even them I'm still not thrilled at all about giving ManU the best defender in the premier league (in my opinion).

Interesting you bring up the head to head.

Davinson played in the 2-0 at home. Clean sheet.

I believe Toby lost a key header for the winning goal at Old Trafford. The flick on was scored by Anthony Martial of all people.

Yes we lost the semi final but Davinson wasn't at fault for either. First dembele lost the ball and crossed to the other side. Second was a fluky lay off from Lukaku.

I actually feel Vertonghen has improved to become our best defender over the last season and a half. It annoys me when people fail to see that after how he stepped up during toby's absences.

Toby was hands down the best defender in the league in 15/16 but hasn't been quite the same post injuries, whereas the 2 years older Jan seems to be going from strength to strength.

If he stays great, but I really think Poch and Levy would find it easier to just move on. If it's Martial and De Ligt then perfect.

im still baffled why they want perisic but then its jose with short term solutions in mind.

Perisic is strong and has an unreal work ethic. He's pretty tall for a winger too. All things Mourinho loves. He has no interest in developing players really.

There's an inconsistency about him. Disappears for long periods.

Though he did put it together for the duration of the WC.
