Yeah i thought it was harsh on him. He stands there and tries to make a save which he's entitled to do then doesn’t touch the ball then gets clattered into by Alvarez
Missed out a key detail.
remember the defender does have to fairly stop the attacker from scoring

If it's 2 outfield players and the attacker kicks the ball ahead and runs straight into the defender it's never a foul because they're the one who has brought the contact on. I don't see why because it's a goal keeper it's treated differently?

No but if he does go for the ball, he has to get a touch on it. He didn’t
But he didn't foul Alvararez by reaching for the ball. Alvarez crashes into the keepers right side which he hasn't moved to impede.

I just assumed it was a foul at first because he doesn't touch the ball but on the replays it's clear him reaching for the ball isn't the cause of the contact

Look it may well be a penalty I'm just not sure what the keeper is supposed to do there.

He was firmly planted on the ground, textbook GK defending. Alvarez ran into him, it's not illegal for GK to be in the trajectory of the striker, it's his job. Made himself big, then even retreated his feet back.
