reports today that they're in for Higuain, Gundogan and lars Bender, probably bollox but worrying if they do start making deals like this as they'll leave us trailing in their wake

A few months ago it was Bender, Goetze and Lewandowski

Every year they are linked with world class players and every they sign "good" players.. I won't get worried till I see world class players holding up a shirt next to Wenger

They're already better than us and if they start spending they can spend more and pay better wages than us, which I find worrying

One of the best in the league this year conceded less than ours

Every Arsenal fan I know says this is purely down to Koscielny. They think Monreal is good but not outstanding, Sagna has lost his touch completely, Mertesacker is a bit of a donkey but every now and again makes up for it by his aerial presence and his partnership with Koscielny works the best, and Szczesny is an utter donkey.

This is their opinion, and mine's not pretty far off it, TBH.

If we knew how to defend from set pieces we'd have had a good defensive record this year. It really is our bane at the back, need to do a lot of work on it pre-season.

Says it all really .. If we had Keane leading a line as a stand-in for Defoe and the Absent Adebayor we would have finished ahead of them. Just my opinion.

Yep sure I've heard it all before.

I never understand people saying "we will get left behind in this window, all the other teams will improve". That never happens. This year, more than any other is completely unclear as to who will make up the top four and in what order.

Moyes is a very good manager but United without Ferguson are a complete unknown quantity. Why will City get better? They haven't even confirmed their manager who, while very good, is also an unknown quantity in England. Chelsea are perhaps in the strongest position given their squad and getting Mourinho back but who knows if his return will suddenly propel them to the top of the league. And Arsenal finished one point above us last year and I would be surprised if they made a 'marquee signing' let alone three.

I'd hate to be at the bar with Arsene, he don't half take his time to get his wallet out...

With 70m to spend this summer, this is what Arsenal's line up could look like on September 1st.

Heard a few disillusioned goons claim that Wenger won't spend big money on top players because he's scared of the added pressure that comes with making big name signings.

Keep the squad as it is, and maybe recruit a couple of modestly priced youngsters, and no-one will really complain if they 'only' finish fourth again next year.

And if they can manage to avoid teams starting with the letter "B" they might be OK in the cups.

Arsenal won't spend big unless that slug that walks like a man in Usmanov ever gets majority.

Meanwhile the Daily Turd on the Glass are making mock-ups of Higuain in a Filth shirt.

If Higuian goes to Arsenal I think he'll do okay and it would be a big change to their previous transfer policy

In one breath it's 'we have bundles of cash to spend' and then it's quickly swept away with 'But Arsene may not spend it'. I think this is more of a statement meant to appease some of the fans who are making noise about the lack of their spending over the last few seasons.

Exactly - it simply means that instead of having a warchest of £70m that they won't spend, they'll have a £200m warchest that they won't spend. And what if they did sign a Rooney? What about his wages? What happens when the rest of the squad come asking for a raise? My guess would be that if they did have a balance of £200m to clear out, a sizeable chunk of that would have to go on renegotiating contracts with current players to keep them in line with the rate they'll be paying for top talent.

Genuinely, and not saying this as a Spurs fan, more as a general football fan, i can see no attraction with going to the Woolwich whilst Wenger is in charge. I'm all for consistency, for managers staying for the long haul, but sometimes you just have to accept when you've been left behind - Wenger is being left behind in the Premier League by the new breed of young managers doing the rounds and, whilst he clings on valiantly, he must know his grip is slipping.

We need to get three or four major signings to raise us to a level where getting top four regularly is something we can achieve, not just once in a blue moon.

Unfortunately, the Sky four and even Pool know we're short, and will recruit whatever they need, in my opinion, to ensure that with a smaller stadium and financial clout, it stays that way.
