does anyone have the picture of Bale as a kid in a Real Madrid kit? Seeing him kissing the RM badge on SSN means he's dead to me.

It could of been lined up but we could then just say we will pull the plug and we would know if the transfer had been moved that far considering we would speak to him as well. Also the Madrid players said that they werent leaving, its the fact Bale has officially signed that has made him reassess his options. Madrid arent even desperate to sell.Heres what he said a couple of days ago

Madrid wouldnt of risked selling Ozil before signing Bale in case something did happen. As for it being delayed so they couldnt play against, thats bullshit as they have to be registered 12 in the afternoon. Both Vlad and Eriksen took part in training and yet werent registered in time for the match. So we could of announced it Friday morning and it would be too late for them to tell everyone.

But we were ALWAYS selling Bale to Real, we weren't going to pull the plug just over this. Özil might well have said all that guff, but if Perez walks up to him for example and says I am selling you, you do what? Cry and accept being on bench or make the most of the situation... or whatever it is that has changed his mind, but Özil will have known for WEEKS that Bale was signing. if anyone has changed his mind it's the club wanting to cash in on a very high offer and telling him he likely has limited future (and in a WC year too).

Firstly the Bale deal looked like it was off more than once in the last week despite him throwing his toys out the pram

Secondly Perez wouldnt want to sell Ozil as he is crowd favourite, every person in Madrid expected Di Maria or Benzema to go before Ozil.

Also I also mentioned in that post that Madrid regularly pay around £5mill or so upwards to clubs so that their rivals cant buy them. Hence Real Madrid being told Neymar will cost upwards of £100mill to buy despite him going to Barca for €50mill, ten of which went to Santos and another €10mill which went to them to prevent them selling him to anybody else unless for a inflated price

Bale deal was always happening - the agents said negotiations started 110 days earlier e.g. we finished 5th and that evening the "gentleman's agreement" took effect. It's a dream move for any player and even if we'd won the league he'd still have gone and we'd have been €100 million better off.

So this Ozil deal could potentially set Arsenal back £94.5m (£42.5m fee + £52m in wages over 5 years (£200k p/w))

Yes he is a top class player, but not one absolutely vital for them. Would be far more concerned if they sign a few DMs & CBs.

Oh, and we signed Lamela & Eriksen combined for less than Ozil's transfer fee

All reports say it's 7m a year so approx 130k a week.

Any other news on your potential signings? All very Spurs this really, last day shenanigans, except you'll likely sign the players you're after. :D

anyone trying to find a silver lining with ozil is desperately clutching at straws. it will be a dog fight for 4th this season and i dont see us as favourites, even with all our new signings.

Also think people are sleeping on Liverpool and forgetting that they still have Suarez.

Arsenal will be tough. If only Lennon could have pushed on and improved his game such as Walcott has. Theo has turned himself into a great player, one of the most consistent wingers in the Prem.

Before Ozil I was confident we'd get top 4 over then, even thought Liverpool would do better than them. With Ozil they're right back in it. If they had a better defensive half of the team they'd be fighting for the title.

I always thought they'd make a good signing or two and was never under the presumption that this year will be anything but a top 4 race. Harder this year. Last year was between us and Arsenal. This year it's between us, Arsenal, Liverpool and even United, IMO.

This is the real test to see if AVB has what it takes. We can't afford to wait for this team to gel, we have to get these players working together fast.

Ozil is obviously a wondrous attacking midfielder, top 5 in the world. But he isn't really what they need, they need a world class striker, center back, and a defensive midfielder. They are only a couple of injuries away from a crisis, and if ozil is their only signing, then of course it improves their attacking threat even more. But imho we have far superior depth to get through the season.

Marathon not a sprint.

We'll be fine. Ozil solves none of their issues. A leg break to Koscielny or Giroud and we'll see how far that Ozil signing gets them. They've signed a class player but it doesn't improve their squad in the areas that need improving.

It's like us trying to sign Hulk when we've already got Lamela. Sure, he's great and all and you'd probably take him but without a quality left back we're still gonna have some issues.

Agreed. Next up is home to Norwich, I think Lamela and Eriksen are more than capable to start a game like that.
